If someone were to ask you to sell them a Saleen style carbon spoiler like the one you have there, would there be issues with copyright (or whatever) based on their design? Would you have to license to make them and sell them? Or is it old enough that you can do whatever you want?

No as long as the term Saleen “style” is used. Just as cervinies and kaenen has sold the 281 spoiler for years. Kaenen has also sold the exact version of Saleen’s heat extractor hood for years. The issue comes in when you use the saleen logo and trademark name.

The next and final step (for now) on the exterior of the 98 Saleen is going to be to balance the carbon fiber wing in the back. The hood on the car is already carbon fiber. But Im going to design and create a unique front splitter for this saleen bumper in carbon fiber. Luckily last week I had a customer offer to finanace this idea…since he has been wanting one for years…asked me if I would make it. So let the next phase begin.

Wow... Those two small things, the hood vents in particular, made a much bigger difference than I would have thought.

It will be one of the first things that get noticed before the rest of the carbon fiber starts to peek through to the eyeballs.
