I am trying to identify a tranny i want to purchase for my 65 Fastback. There is no tag on the tranny only casting numbers. The casting numbers are C4AP-7A105 and is on the front of the tranny where the bell bolts up. There is also a big number 4 on the main body. On the pass side of the tranny is a round plate with
C6Ap-7D0 27-C with a 4B under it. (I think this is called the servo But I am not sure)
and another number 2H133157 on the top. The tail shaft has a big number 6 on it and D00P 7A04.
I am trying to find out if this is a 64-66 tranny with Green Dot valve body. Any help you guys could give would be appriciated. Please either post your replies or email me at [email protected] or cell me at 727 385-7920
Thanks and have a HAppy New Year

I am guessing this is a C4 and not a toploader as you say "value body"?

The "C6XX-XXXX" casting tells me it is for the '66 and later model years.

You have a 65 fastback, if you are looking for a "perfect match" this is not it and it isn't really close as the C6 casting screams 1966. (If you have a very late 65, like June, it is possible to have 66 model year parts.)

If by some chance I read your post wrong and this is a toploader, with no tranny tag, I would tell you not to get it.

Yes the car was built in June 4 1965 so I would say its a late 65. It is a automatic not a top loader. How can I tell its it has the 64-66 valve body in her so she shifts 1,2,3 when in the large green dot on floor shifter. Thanks again

The 7A04 is the date code. It combined with the D0OP casting number indicates it's a 77 model year C4. January 4th 1977. Just counting the splines on the input shaft will confirm this is a post 69 transmission. It'll have 26 splines instead of a pre 69 with 24.

the tail shaft # is DOOP 7A104 the casting # on the front where it bolts up to the bell is
C4AP 7A105. I was hopeing it is a cruiseamatic. is there a way to tell maybe by droping the pan or something. Thanks

Thanks I had a tranny guy open it up and look at the valve body and was told it is not a 64-66 green dot. So I guess I will keep looking.
Can anyone tell me how many bolts hold a 64-66 valve body to the case on a green dot? Thanks again everybody.
