Just bought a 2000 v6 with a blown trans... Put a new trans in... Runs and drives and shifts good.. When I am going straight no noise, when I am in a parking lot or making a semi hard turn I get a constant squealing noise. I figured it could be in the rearend because as soon as I turn it makes the noise. 1 wheel spins faster than the other when turning. The guy I bought it from told me the gears were replaced and he thought a posi unit was put in.. He didn't know what brand.. Could have been a factory unit. I dont know. Anybody have a similar issue.

I had a similar issue on my GT. It sounded like dying baby seal inside the car as i was taking a sharp slow corner. If your V-6 has a limited slip diff in it, then it is possible that the noise is coming from the clutch packs in the diff. I tried replacing the gear oil at first and it didnt help. Changed the clutch packs and it took care of the noise.

It has a tracloc in it... The guy I bought it from didn't really know what was going on.. It was just put in, in October apparently... I am not keeping the car I just bought it cause it was an easy fix.. Now I got this noise I have to take care of before it goes for sale. Thanks for the reply. I figured it is going to be the diff or a brake problem..

Got it figured out.. Thanks to your reply. The clutch packs looked a little burnt. They had hotspots on them. I took them all out. Put it back together.. The noise is gone. Now I have a different problem, I took the spring off of the calipers for the ebrake. I didn't put them back on cause it was a pain in the ass. I went for a short drive and could smell the brakes when I got back. Has anyone ever taken this spring off?

Hang on. You removed them, not replaced them? The spring is necessary. That is what disengages the brakes when you release the handle. If you push the button, with a working spring, the handle should want to pull down on its own. If you dont have the springs, when you push the button, you have to push the handle down and the brakes dont completly release. Sure you are going to smell brakes.

Yeah I took them off when I took the e cable off. Had to pull the axles to get the diff out.. I know what the spring is for, I just was taking the car for a test drive. I just need to figure out how to put the springs back on.. Looks like a pain.. I still have the springs

Got them back on with a pair of channel lock pliers.. Big ones.. I took the bolt that holds the one side of the spring in and ground off the one side. That way It was easier to get the spring on, then tightened the bolt so the spring wouldnt come off.
