New Heads And Same Inlet Tract. No New Power? Wtf??? O_o

Stock gears do have nothing to do with it. If you add heads and intake that should net you 50+ HP and the car is now slower - it ain't the gears that are the problem.
again I still think the car is not getting into the cams sweet spot and falling on it's face with the aod could be a valve train issue as mentioned as well
 
i have to agree as an e cammer myself, stock gears suck. i did it all port polish, bolt ons, big lightning maf, 32lb injectors. but by far the 3.73s made the BIGGEST butt dyno gains. right before i shelled it and did a t-5 swap.:nice:
 
Well first stop would be check the valve train geometry. Does it need shims on the rockers? Does it need a push rod length change? Things that will rob power and also cause the valve train noise. Stock MAF? Has to go. 55mm bottleneck right at the beginning. Stock headers? Have to go. Bottle neck at the exit. PUT SOME GEAR IN IT! The cam/head/intake combo is NOT gonna make power at 1500 RPM. Do these things and power you shall have, provided you have no codes or some bad sensor etc.

All this . and the reason why didn't go with A valvetrain issue is because if the vaccum lines etc are not on the up and up he will have idle issues with that cam.

How bout say a 94/95 maf and go get er tuned. After I had the lower intake ported I felt it in my little jeans. Went to dyno for a retune n it reported a 21 hp gain. Get a tune, those heads should've given you a little kick. Oh and I have 19# ers and whatever stock size 95 tb is.
Edit: I just remembered that a first time tune is higher than balls on a girafe. I dunno play w the timing gun??
