Is there anywhere on the body or in any paperwork to get the key code information for a 68 Mustang? Specifically the ignition key?

no, however, you can have a locksmith make a key for around $35.00.

Right. I was just hoping there was a simpler way than loading the car on a trailer and carrying it to town.

You may be able to find a mobile lock smith that can do it where it sits

It would be easiest to remove the key switch and take it to a lock smith.
the outer ring spins off the front and the entire switch comes out the back of the dash .

I can handle that. I didn't figure it would be that easy.

Very simple ,just remove the front ring ,and a 3/8 nut on the back that holds the plugin to the switch and pull it out .
