So I bought back my old 2003 Mustang and just realized recently that the clutch cable was installed on the left side of the dip stick by somebody and the cable is rubbing against the engine, and the metal cable is exposed. I am currently trying to sell the car and it has not seemed to be a big issue so I have been putting the issue in the ads to sell the car....I would fix it myself but I have a new baby and been very busy.
So today I am driving it...the battery had needed a jump (since I never drive the car) so I decided to drive the long way out to Wegmans. After about 20 minutes I was having trouble all of a sudden getting it into gear, and it just got worse to where I was afraid I was going to get stuck...I had to muscle it into gear. I started freaking out because...I am trying to sell the car! Synchros and Transmissions start going through my head. But then I thought of my clutch cable.
So the second I turn off the car I can move the shifter in and out of gears easy. After 20-30 minutes shopping I went back out to the car and drove the 15 minutes home and it was fine. I am going to go get the cable replaced immediately. Do you think this will fix my issue? I'm so worried...ugh!
