To all you fellas driving around the streets with racing seats and a 4 pt harness how is it? Is it pretty irritating getting all strapped in to drive two blocks to the convience store? I have a 3 yr old and messin w her carseat is kinda a pain in that regards.

The novelty will wear off about the 4th time you try to lean forward to adjust the volume or temperature. If you compensate by leaving the shoulder belts loose, you've defeated the whole purpose.

Yeah I really don't want them, I was just looking at seats on the market and they all seem to require them. I guess I'm going to have mine redone.
Ps: As for the novelty factor, I'm not into em, they kinda make me roll my eyes at the guy with them in a dd. What if you have a passenger? You'll have to be like, "lemme adjust that for ya Frank, I had Bob in here last week.(that's what she said)

Some aftermarket seats have the cut outs for 4pt belts in the head rest area but that doesn't mean that they won't work with the standard lap/shoulder belt. Besides you can't properly mount 4pt belts in most cars anyways, helps if you have a cage.

Yeah, the only seats a factory 3-point wouldn't work for are racing buckets that don't recline (and come up high in the hip area as a result) or super-wide/tall shoulder areas that interfere with the shoulder belt.

Coming from the guy that had a 4pt belt in a DD, I can be your first hand testimonial to what it was like.

Firstly just as others have pointed out, properly adjusted, they make the simple things just stupid to try and do. ( think trying to look over your left shoulder to merge into traffic, pulling up to the drive up lane to reach out and get your food/pay/deposit money/ whatever) Forget about having a passenger (like my wife) that absolutely HATED them.

I was able to get used to living with one, and as compared to having to pay 200.00 for the set of proper 3pt retractors, they were way cheaper, but that was the only reason I used mine.
