the vents look freaking AWESOME (or will when you finish). I liked the second design too - however the grill mesh you use (used on the last car too) always kills me :( makes it look like something you'd buy off ebay. :(

This design though, LOVING IT!

You're probably out pounding away in the garage but I didn't get a chance to get back to this until just now.

There may be some part of the changes that you like.

I like your version better than the vette. It's more aggressive looking and unique with a nod towards previous design influences.

See the epilogue....

Thanks. The grille mesh is off of Ebay, M.O.F. I'm not gonna use any of the stuff pictured in all of the last pics w/ the grille mesh as shown. I'm looking for some thing finer. You'd suggest????

I am really feeling this design . Awesome .
Thanks again.

Nope, All of your photoshop, and all of my metal crafting netted me w/ a fail on the mikey-likey chart.

** Epilogue I spent all day cutting the gills apart, and inserting in 5/8" spacers between and I hated it. Doing that caused the gills to lose their knife edge, which was one of the things I liked about the original design.
So I spent the rest of the day cutting that junk back off, and returning them to the way they are pictured already.

If I had a rowboat, I'd be paddling in a circle.:bang:

What about cutting the holes/slots INTO a single piece of metal? A cover plate that fits squarely over that area.

When finished, it would look molded in perhaps.

Another thought that JUST popped into my mind is maybe this cover plate made from:

Im with Arnold (1990coupe). Second design would have been acceptable, but I too am digging this last one the most by far. Yet again your desire to be unique, and "do it twice (more like 4-5 times) Mike" has given you immortality among we mere mortals.

Not gonna lie, you have me REALLY wanting to take that Porsche style scoop and have it molded into the side of my S197. I feel it would fit nicely, and be different than the normal side scoops everyone sticks on. Similar to Saleen's old scoops on the new edge.

Have I ever mentioned you are a horrible influence on me???

Yes, you may have mentioned it once or twice.

Do not blame me when you cut into the quarter of a perfectly good S 197 body, wondering how you're gonna make it to work on Monday when things don't go as planned though.

I really enjoy seeing the evolution of the side scoops. It's a shame it's not something you could do with clay until you get a final shape. Every iteration means more hours in the garage for you. You're an artist Mike. It's just rough when your medium is metal.

I just hope that a flat design will be able to pull enough air in. The lack of a scoop may make it a little more difficult. You almost need to create a negative pressure like a cowl induction hood does.

I like the current/new design! I looks mean as hell....making it live up to the "Monster" part of it's name even more. I'm glad you stuck with the blade-type edges. :nice: Scott is right, too bad you didn't mold all of your MANY ideas with clay before you started molding/fabbing metal. If nothing else it would have been cheaper.

You're still awesome in my book. :hail:

No worries about not driving it to work Monday. She is up on stands in the garage getting new suspension and wheels. My rear air bag/leaf/PHB equipped ranger is now my DD until April. Well see if I can keep it straight in the rain. Hijack over, get to work.

THAT is not my fault either.

Well according to my scientific testing, I've been able to determine that the angle of the fin itself will disturb the air flow enough to direct it into the opening.

My engineering team and I subjected our test model, (my 09 Ranger) to a battery of controlled wind tunnel tests. ( Well, the only "controlled"part of the wind tunnel test was the speed, and there wasn't a tunnel either, just wind)
The team, (me and one of my other personalities) opened my window, and while traveling down the interstate, started angling my hand outward while keeping the leading edge in line w/ the A pillar. Exhaustive testing revealed that as soon as there was a sufficient "angle of deflection", the gauge we used to measure wind velocity (my face) started recording definite cooling sensation.

I think I'll be OK.
