Before I go forward with the swap I want to be completely clear on the wiring harness and pcm portion of the swap. I have a manual wiring harness but I've heard that I can reflash my auto pcm via dealer. I've contacted a couple dealers and they said they can't do any of that. If anybody out there has some insight on how I should go about this part of the swap please I'm all ears.

Tim jimmy I read the thread and that's y I'm asking about the pcm. Apparently it's very doable to flash the auto pcm to auto but the dealers around here really couldn't help. I really want to know what other options I have, that be buying a used pcm and going down that route. But i really could use any feedback out there on how to go about the pcm issue when the time comes. I got most of the parts really cheap so I'm really looking to see it through. I really want my gt standard. Any help guys I'm all ears I appreciate it.

You can flash auto to manual, you just can't flash manual to auto. If you are going from a manual to an auto it requires a new auto PCM. Any good tuner can turn you auto PCM into a manual by making the tune for a manual. The dealers could do it but they wont, for liability reasons. Since you have the harness, just get the manual foot pedal setup and hook everything up. Have your tuner make you a manual tune for your PCM.

Thanks retfr8. Finding someone competent enough for this tune will prob be a hassle for me. I hope when the time comes something or someone would come across. Retfr8 are u suggesting like a proformance shop or just someone with the proper tools? If anyone knows someone in the Los Angeles are I would really appreciate the help.

If you don't feel capable to do the swap yourself, there has to be many Mustang oriented Performance shops in the LA area. I would check some of them out, reputations and such, to have them do the swap. It's a pretty straight forward swap, so I would imagine something in the $800-$900 labor range but I have no idea what the labor charges are out there. Do you have an SCT XCal 3 and someone to make the changes in the tune?

Doing the swap is not a problem my dad is actually doing it he's a really good mechanic. However the only thing he brought up to me was the "computer" issue like he said. He told me to investigate and figure out what options are out there. So I got the wiring harness but now there's a connector that doesn't match my 05 gt connector I believe is connector c110. No I don't have sect xcal.. With those devises could I flash a manual tune on it?

Get an SCT XCal 3 or the new X4 and contact Manuel at http://www.tudyno.com/ Manuel does remote tuning and can get you fixed up. He is very good with our 3v cars and tunes many of the guys on the forum where I spend most of my time, S197Forum.com. He also runs a shop, has done many different swaps and can most likely help with questions. Don't let the fact that he is in Venezuela throw you off, for remote tuning it doesn't matter where you are located. I can't help with the specific connector but the Ford service manuals can be found here. http://iihs.net/fsm/?dir=1

I am in So Cal also. I just did the chang over to mo 06. I took it to a local dealer and they couldn't get the ecm reflashed. They said I need to purchase a new ecu for a manual transmission and have it flashed. It costed me 150.00 to get no results. I just sent a message to Manuel to see if he can do anything for me.
The wiring harness is year specific. What is the part number on the harness?

Sucks man. I called a dealer around here in Huntington Beach or I think it was Buena Park that said they can reflash your auto ecu. I can't remember the dealer name but I can look it up maybe they can help you. I've also found someone on this site that has a friend out in Maryland that can flash it for but of course u would have to mail it out to him. But I was told he was one of the best programmers out there and I believe he charges 100$. I'll send you the part number in a few hrs but what I do know is it came out of an 05 gt same year as mine but it was post October which from what I've read went through some changes, that being just one connector c110. I'll start my swap prob in 3 weeks for sure. So how did ur swap go?

Took 1 day but I had a rack to do it on. The automatic transmission is a lot heavier than the older transmission. Took 2 people to move it. The back of the engine doesn't drop down very far so you will have to put the manual transmission in at an angle until you get the bell housing into the wider part of the firewall. Once you drop the exhaust out, make sure you pull the heat shields off the floor pan and you will have more room to work with. I baught all the flywheel, pressure plate and bellhousing bolts from ford. There is also a wiring harness that goes to the clutch pedal switches you will need. It has a black electronic box built into it.

Unfortunately we won't be using a rack so i know it's gonna be a harder putting up the manual trans. Yeah I believe that harness for the pedal has a relay on it which I do have connects underneath the dash. I will have to make some splicing on one of the connectors since it's slightly different and I'm hoping it all goes smooth. Basically the only last part I need for my swap is the U shaped bracket that holds the shifter bushing from underneath then car. The guy who sold me the trans threw in the shifter but that's one piece I need and can't find. I might have to go aftermarket for a shifter which I kinda wanted the stock shifter throws for some reason. So how's it running n shifting??

I actually have a brand new factory shifter that I had to buy because the trans I baught didn't have any shifter at all. The only part of the shifter I used was the part that bolted to the shift rod on the trans and the square rod to the shifter. I still have the rest of the factory shifter. Including the part that bolts to the floor pan. You are more than welcome to it if you need it. I think the second shifter that I baught for the car is the MGW. GREAT shifter. The only reason I baught it is because I club race my cars on the road corse at Willow Springs. Othere than needing my computer flashed, it runs ok with the automatic flash in the computer. All the trans codes come up, the overdrive lite on the dash flashes and I can't fev it over 4000 rpm. I had to run a self supporting reverse light system. I have recently found out that there is a Smart Junction Box in the rt front kick panel that controls part of the auto trans. That includes reverse. Ford only lists one part number and it has to be flashed for either manual shift or automatic shift transmissions. They aren't sure if the box in the car can be reflashed or not. I have to talk to the service department Monday. I think I will call the dealer in Glendale after they riped me off here in Santa Clarita. I have payed for a down load from a tuner in Georgia. I will use my SCT Hand held to download it into my car. I should have it early next week. The name of the shop is Brooks Speed. Just google his shop and you can read all about him. I have heard that he is the best around when it comes to tunes. I do plan on putting the manual computer in by next November when I have to smog it.
Henry Thompson.

So u had to run a reverse circuit because u dont have the manual flash at the moment or is it because u didn't have a manual wiring harness? Would I have to run a circuit for my reverse lights my self or would my manual wiring harness take care of the issue? Ill definately look up brooks speed when the time comes up. I could really use the the bracket u mentioned that bolts the shifter to the floor pan and maybe even the bushings and bolts for the factory shifter. If there's a way I can get to them let me know how much would u sell them for I'd appreciate it. Man I'm actually surprised your able to start the car with the auto flash I didn't think it was possible.

The reverse light system runs through the Smart Junction Box so you will have to run you're own wiring. Ford only has one part number for it but they aren't sure if it can be reflashed or not.
I will check tomorrow on the shifter. It should still be there. You can have the shifter. It's new.

Oh I see. I really appreciate it on the shifter man my email is [email protected] email me any information on how to get a hold of you. The one part I could really use is the U shaped bracket that bolt the shifter to the floor pan but if the whole thing is up for grabs it's much appreciated brother.

Can I swap the box with one from a manual car and get everything working that way?
