I am looking to install a subwoofer in my 89 Mustang convertible I am looking to a box that will fit in the small space between the bottom of the trunk and where the top sit when its down. there isn't much room in the trunk as it is so thats why i am looking to put something in that space. I was looking at something like this http://www.carid.com/qpower-subwoof...6522344.html?gclid=CJCWqbTMm8ECFajm7AodoV8Axg

Looking like it will fit right in the space . Any one else put slim subwoofer boxes in this space ?

Thanks

I haven't put that type of box in a 'vert, but have put subwoofers in them. For what it's worth, getting good low end from a single sub in a convertible can be a big challenge. Not that it can't be done, but probably not going to be what you want from a single 10", especially going down the road. You may be better off trying to do something custom in the cabin somewhere.

That box needs a shallow mount sub. Im not sure what kind of sound you want out of it but shallow mount stuff usually doesnt compare with full size. In my 91 GT verty I took out the spare tire and built a box that dropped down in the middle and was able to squeeze two 12 fosgates in it -rear firing- running off a old school punch 200 and still had some room for small things in the trunk. Sounded great with the top up, with the top down it just made the car vibrate... Ahh the good ole days...

That is no longer the case. I have a pair of shallow mount 12" subs in my truck that are one of the most accurate and deepest hitting subwoofers I have ever heard. They play to 7hz with authority and they take everything my Mosconi Zero3 can throw at them.
Illusion, Focal, Dayton, JL and a few others are making some really spectacular sounding shallow subs and next year Sundown should be releasing Nick Westgates BM MK V subs and those things are under 3" deep and handle 750rms and have a 24mm x-max. :nice:
