Creaking Noise

Hey guys my 2003 Mustang GT has started making a new noise amongst all the other sounds that it makes... Whenever I turn the steering wheel to the right I get a creaking noise like metal on metal. It does not do it when I turn the wheel to the left or when I go over bumps. It only makes it when I turn it to the right.

However I did lower the car 2 months ago with H&R super sport lowering springs and I'm wondering if it is causing the noise. I did buy new isolators with the kit from AM and installed the new bump stop that came with the kit. The shocks/struts have been replaced at 110,000 miles too. I cant think of anything else to add to help oh the car currently has 128500 miles on it.

Im not to knowledgeable about suspension but I am wondering if it is something on the steering rack like a tie rod or something. I don't think it is a control arm issue because it doesn't make noise over bumps.

Any help is appreciated guys. :hail:

Ball joints as stated or tie rod ends. Jack the car up and press on the wheel (at 9 and 3 o'clock and 12 and 6). If it moves top to bottom its the ball joints, left to right movement then it's likely the tie rods. Would be a good time to replace both on both sides if budget allows.

So it's just a creak when you turn, not a clanking or clicking noise, right? I've had this same exact problem until two or three weeks ago, turn the wheel left, no problem, turn the wheel right and it creaks all the way to full lock. Took my car to the shop to have them check ball joints and tie rods and no problems at all. Turns out the steering rack had a ridiculous amount of play in it because of the crappy stock bushings wearing out. I got a set of poly steering rack bushings from LMR and installed them in the driveway in a couple hours and I haven't had the problem since.

Hope this helps :nice:

Update

Well the noise stopped 2 days after I made this thread, Im a little baffled as to why it stopped. When it did make the noise it had been raining a lot, and now that it has stopped raining it does not make the noise. I don't know if the rain has anything to do with it but I cant think of anything else that would cause it to stop... As of right now I don't have the means of getting under the car due to me being up in college and I don't want to go to a shop and have them charge me to check it out...
