So I'm trying to get the car reassembled and I noticed that on the underside of the upper intake there are two metal fitting things that are supposed to have hoses connected to them. One of the fittings is corroded and broken and I won't be able to get a hose on there. Can anyone tell me what these are and whether or not they can be replaced? Attached are some pics..... thanks!

f your 88 is Speed density then you attach a hose to the MAP sensor fitting on the manifold and sensor on the firewall. If you are Mass Air, cap off the fitting on the manifold and you probably have no hose off the sensor as it is a BAP sensor.

Yeah I finally googled and figured out it goes to the map...now is that fitting something I can replace? I'm about to go out there with some vice grips and see if I can twist it off...looks like something I might be able to get at the plumbing section at Lowe's...

Okay, so I know I'm beating this to death, and I'm probably more worried about this than it warrants.... but....

Here's a picture of what these fittings look like when I take them out of the intake. To my surprise they were not threaded and they just pulled right out of the intake. The problem is I have no idea what they are called and so I can't find new ones to replace them. All the vacuum fittings I am finding on the Net are threaded and these aren't. Does anyone know where I can get replacements for these at? My other idea is to get a tap and die set and then thread my own holes and then put in one of these hose fitting adapter things I found at Advanced Auto.... any issues with doing that? Thanks for any help!

I would love to cap it off.... but mine is speed density.... so I still need it.....

There's an extra port on the Vacuum tree. Just plug the MAP sensor there and cap that corroded port.

I've had mine plugged into the vacuum tree for years because ythe Cobra intake doesn't have that port. My '88 still is SD, so i needed to tie it ot vacuum

Yea and from the factory on fox cars that plugged line off the tree says b/r, hmmm boost/retard? Was ford thinking what I was thing? Blower time! If u want an entire new upper intake just pm me but like the guys stated above that can be plugged off at the intake, most of those are useless anyway if your already smog deleted, except of course your PCV, my explorer intake was plugged at the manifold when I switched to mass air
