18k for a brand new GT.... Prices have gone mad!!!
My dad bought the 95 I'm working on in late 95 or early 96 w 15k mi on it. I think the asking price was around $15k and the other day he said he thinks he ended up paying around $20k after financing. I rode with him on a lot of z28 test drives and he ended up a a teal blue mustang GT. The comfort factor was what swayed em towards the mustang I think. I was kinda bummed at the time, but it's been a good car.

I bought a brand new 93 GT vibrant red, black cloth interior,cd stereo, power windows/locks,5sp back in 93 for 17,800$! Yeah the prices have gone crazy! I still have the same job I had then. To say my wages haven't kept up with the inflated car prices would be an understatement. :bs: Now the new cars are much more advanced but still 40+ grand for a mustang GT?!? Ridiculous!

Your right! Prices for all cars has gotten rediculous.... Especially when you can press a dent in them with your thumb. Makes me wonder where my money is going! You know I watch a lot of the old MotorWeek videos on the tube and you would be surprised at the performance of the cars back then. The average car back then is on par with the performance of the average cars of today. Kinda crazy if you ask me!

I agree with you for the most part. The pricing is ridiculous. If memory serves when I used to tag along w Dad to the car lots in 94 and 95 most dealers were asking around $25k for a z28 and the Mustang Gt's were about the same. As for performance then vs now well of course the new guys would walk all over a show room floor 90's sports car but paying twice as much for one is a kick in the shin. I'm not sure I'm getting twice the quality. Speed is all relative I guess. In 94 a 275 horse 14 second 1/4 mi was a powerful machine. 220 horses was fast in '86.
