97 Cobra Temp Gauge Not Working

  • Sponsors (?)

So reviving this thread. I have the 97 Cobra back from my step-son. Sadly a drunk driver hit my son's 95 Cobra vert. Destroyed. We are trying to get the 97 back on the road for him. Have a few things to fix.
I would like to repair the factory gauge. Have been searching on and off a couple days.
Most of the cluster repair sites are speedo and tach only.
I wanted to check again and see if anyone has had any experience repairing the gauges. Thanks.

Have you tested/replaced the sender on the engine?

If you probe the end to ground, you should get a resistance value. If it's open, the sender is bad and you can replace it

Yea thats all been done. twice.
I pulled the cluster out of the 95. Replaced just the temp and fuel module. Works now. Problem is the needles are noticeably different shades of orange. 97 needles are much darker orange.
So. I would like some recommendations on a repair service that someone has used or trusts. I could either have them swap the needles from the 97 module or just simply repair the 97 cluster (put the 97 module back in)?
Im not inclined to attempt swapping the needles myself. Id prob end up with 2 broke temp/fuel modules...
