S197 Panhard Bar?

Ok...newbie here.

I bought this S197 which came modded with an adjustable panhard? bar in the trunk (see pick). Not sure what's normal for the rear suspension but there another bar in addition to the sway bar under the differential (see pick).

Here are the questions:

What are the right terms for these?

How and when would you adjust the bar located in the trunk?

How does it affect the handling?

Bar in the trunk is just a shock tower brace. It doesn't get adjusted after it has been properly installed.

Yes, like he said- the bar inside the trunk is a shock tower brace. The one on the axle itself is the panhard bar.
