Drivetrain Is This A 9"?

ok first, are the edges of the pumkin scalloped? specifically around the bolt holes. if so then you have either a 9 or 9 3/8" rear end

second, can you get a socket on the bottom nut? if so then you have either an 8" or 9 3/8" rear end. if not then you have the 9" rear end.

here is a picture of a nine inch rear end;

look close and you can see the scalloping around the bolt holes.

9" question:
I've got 79 Versailles 9" with disc brakes and am having a hell of a time with a parking brake. When pulling the cable from under the car, the calipers squeeze. But when trying to set it with the pull handle from inside, it won't budge. Also like that set up requires a foot pedal. Anyone know anything about this

it sounds to me like the mechanism inside the car is frozen, or near frozen. its also possible that the cable from the mechanism to the actual parking brake cables is frozen.

Full disclosure -
It was my mechanic. He took the assembly apart and reinstalled it today 6 times. He also took the calipers apart and reassembled them bc he thought they were frozen. He's thinking that the assembly itself requires more leverage than just the hand-pull e-brake...ie pedal brake or "pull up" brake.
