I'll save the update that is specific to the car for the build thread, this is more for input from you all.

I'm scrappin' the orange/black paint scheme. I see that scheme everywhere it seems,..and I ain't feelin' the satin paint. I also don't want a two tone w/ a SS paint where I can't color sand, and buff the tape line between the satin paint, and the gloss competition orange.

So now, I'm entertaining a single color that still has to revolve around an orange engine, and a brown/saddle interior.

Only leaves me w/ a few choices:

I'm gonna buy the paint from Summit again, and whether or not I go w/ a SS, or a BC will depend on the color chosen expressly.

The players:

Root beer metallic

Black Cherry pearl

Bourbon Brown pearl

Burnt Copper pearl

I'm partial to the last, but I like them all. As much as I like the copper, even that color is getting more common these days, so, I may come back round' to one of the brown metallic s/pearls.
But as the thread title implies, once I get the stupid engine sorted out,..the body, and it's color are next.

Before I decide I have a statement to make, and a question to ask:

The copper is great, I like it a lot, but with all of the Ford trucks that color, it is getting old hat and won't know socks off like this car deserves to..

Are you painting this car, or having it painted because BC is easier.

I guess that's two, er, three statements with a question...

I'll more than likely be the painter, and I understand that BC is the easier of the two choices. I agree for the sake of trading off one overdone color, the copper is pretty common as well.

I think I found my paint though. A base clear system that requires a black sealer. Pretty expensive though, (195 for the gallon) but I'm pretty sure it'll be the way I'll go))

I vote against the copper. It's too predictable, in my opinion. I like the subtle touch of a colored black pearl. It will look black from afar, but once you get close enough to see the detail, the color hits you in the face. I think that ties in well with the whole theme of your car. It looks like a lowered Fairmont with some wheels from afar, but then you see all the incredible details once you get close enough to see the interior and engine bay.

Nobody tries to punch someone from 20 feet away. You wait until they get nice and close, and that's when you sock them right in the kisser. I think your car will do the same thing to people.

I like the copper, again, but a darker variant like the last one would be better. First vote would be a root beer. With 4x the normal amount of flake.

root beer or the burbon for me
Why don't you pour the bourbon in the root beer?,.......nobody will be the wiser, and you can have em both.

I agree w/ you on the impression from 20' away thing,...and I think that the root beer will do that as well. I was just concerned the the red in the black in the black cherry pearl wouldn't tie in as well when the hood was opened. Eventually, now that I'm not gonna paint it orange, that engine color will change too,....but I'm not ready for that just yet. So, the outside color needs to play nice w/ the inside /underneath colors.

Just waiting for @Noobz347 to get sucked in again before I decide.

Never tried bourbon in root beer..:chin

No, but yesterday, I tried apple in bourbon. CrownApple or what ever the fck they call it.

Has become MY official replacement for the weak-assed fireball shots everybody has to have.

At least I still get to say "Crown" when I order a shot.

I can't say I've had either of those.. man, where have I been?

See? This all goes back to picking that one thing you like because you KNOW you like it and are afraid to ever try anything new..

No wonder I wound up buying another sbf..

Ohhhh......... you'd be the guy I'd btch out for ordering the Bud Light at the World of Beer.

How do you know if you don't ever try it?

I know (after trying it) by far and large I actually don't "like" any alcohol. But I drink beer like a fishhead on Friday night. It serves a greater purpose.

I know (after trying it) that I'll never smoke a cigarette, cigar,or a pipe.
Nothing makes sense to me about trying to find an addictive substance I can tolerate for the sake of doing it w/ the wife (who's already miserably addicted to the little white tubes you suck on, then open the door a crack to blow the smoke out of when it's raining outside.)

I know (after trying it) Drag racing sucks. Spending money on a car that can only be driven on the weekend, for short bursts at a time, in the BLAZING HOT summer, that more than likely will break something, or crash while wearing a -20 driving suit doesn't fit under the definition of "fun" for me.

I know (after trying it) that sitting in a little box, at 5AM in the freezing cold, unable to do anything that makes noise, for the sake of being able to shoot something that I won't eat, doesn't make any sense at all.

I know (after trying it) I'd jump out of a plane again. Despite the fact that I was scared shtless.

Then of course, there are the many other things that I haven't tried yet that I still have to find out if I don't like it.
But Bud Light isn't one of them.

Lol!

Beer: the one thing I've never been afraid to try new versions of..
.. and I'll follow suit with most of the stuff you mentioned, except for the whole jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. You'd have to be mad..

Since it is a Fairmont, and you are not apparently following the Lizzard's color theme, it HAS to have baby blue. If you do not, I will when's my girl is old enough to drive! Here is my color palate. Maybe sub Ford Racing Blue, but flames or stripes like her tail and a lightning mark are cool enough I may be serious!!!
