Good Day All,

I decided to put an aftermarket shifter in my 2015 Mustang GT w/Performance Pack because the stock shifter just had too much slop in it and I had to pay too much attention to the shifting especially the 2-3.
After some research I chose the MGW race spec shifter. I watched their videos and was impressed with the engineering and build quality that went into it.
I had a mechanic install the shifter as I do not have access to a lift nor do I have the space. The mechanic I had do the install is the crew chief of a 3500 bhp Pro Mod so no worries there. I had the mechanic set the throw reduction to 30%.
The first drive I took after the install was a night and day difference from the factory shifter. The shifting was more solid and confidence inspiring. It was a little stiff at first particularly the springs that keep the shifter centered side-to-side when in neutral. I did have to be firm with shifting at first but as time passed the shifting became more relaxed. When shifting from lets say 3rd to fourth gear, I can feel the transmission come out of 3rd and go into fourth. I can also hear a very light click when I'm not romping on the gas hard. Some people have said that you can't rest your hand on the shifter or it might go into reverse, that is not true. I can rest my hand on the shifter and everything is fine. The only time my GT goes into reverse is when I want it to.
When my GT had about 1800 miles on it I had the transmission fluid drained and put Royal Purple Synchromax – Manual Transmission Fluid in my GT. It made a definate difference for the better. The shifts are smoother and they don't take as much effort.
After the above changes my GT is more fun to drive because of the much improved shifting.
