Hi, I found this forum today while trying to research a motor I'm looking at buying to put in my 1949, F1 pickup. I've been offered what the guy is calling a Cobra 5.0 . The serial number on the block is: F6LE6015-AA It also has the markings that indicate it was made by TEKSID. I'm going to look at it tomorrow. Apparently it had a dirty oil issue and snapped a rod, resulting in a little cylinder damage (requiring a sleeve job.) I'm looking for opinions from anyone here and also some guidance on what I should be looking for when I inspect this engine. I currently belong to the Ford Truck Enthusiasts forum and there are a TON of smart guys there. So I'm hoping and am pretty confident there a lot of smart guys here as well!

Welcome to Stangnet . Not sure i would want to build a block that had a rod snap and needs a sleeve ,could be a lot more damage than that . You may be better off to find a T Bird or other ford with an HO .I see quite a few in my area on Craigs list . I am an old ford pick up guy as well . My 1935.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for your reply! The guy I'm talking to about this motor wants $300. I'm told that the heads alone are worth more than that. He says he's just tired of seeing it sit in his garage. He has a very similar engine in his 1950 F1 and wanted this one for parts I guess. I'm going to look at it tomorrow, but am more than a little scared of it. Thanks again! Nice looking truck you have there!

Let's move this over to SN95. Someone here can tell you if it might be worth salvaging etc.
