Is There Any Alternative/vacuum Motors?

Well Folks,
Ford used the same Vacuum motors in their AC systems (and a few other places) on many/most cars from the late 60's thru at least the late 70's. The only replacements seem to be "one size fits all" units that require at least some mounting mods, not to mention being extremely pricey, or NOS, even more pricey with questionable longevity due to the age of the rubber diaphragms! Futzing with modification/fitment in the tight spaces they're located in just seems like a royal pain the A$$, at best! Is there any electric, DC motor alternative? Heck, I could even deal with simply converting the most used ones to manual cable operation.

Any tips/thoughts are welcomed.
Thanx,
Gene

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt! Even if they work when you find 'em you'll be lucky to get a season out of them before they go belly up. Hmmm. Now I'm having a thought! I've got several defunct units layin around and I may dismantle one and try to use some sort of solenoid or DC motor as the actuator in the OEM shell/format?
Thanks For The Inspiration,:bang:
