Help Deciding Between A 1987 T-top And A 1988 Covertible

So I will be buying my third foxbody mustang and really wanted to get a t-top car, and managed to find a cool 1987 ttop car but I also found a cool 1988 convertible and wondering which to buy. I have had both in the past but I feel the price of t-top cars has increased significantly, as the price difference between the two cars after all the work is done will be about $2K.(t-top being more expensive than the convertible).
Which car do you think I should get if everything else is equal, but had to pay an extra $2k for the t-top car or let me know what is the premium you should pay for a t-top 5.0 GT 5 speed as they are rarer.
Please note the t-top car I am looking at is a hatchback not the extremely rare notchback.
Thanks any feedback any help deciding is appreciated.

I would buy the T top every time over a convertible. I just like the styling way more. It also is a fairly unique fox body. Now is the price difference worth it? Probably

Depends on what your taste and goal is. Both have their plus and minuses. I think there is nothing sexier than a fox convertible with the top down. Both rattle and shake and flex. The T Tops are great cars but are prone to leaking.

Funny in that I am looking at an 85 T Top right now for about $4k. I've owned 2 drop tops, a hatchback and a coupe but never a T Top.

I'd love to have a 4 eye T top!

My dad made me miss out on one I wanted sooooo bad when I was in my early 20s. It was a beautiful black on black black 86 GT T-top. The thing had no miles on it and was clean enough to eat off of. The guy wanted $3000 for it....which in the mid-90's was a steal. I only had $2000 of it and my dad wouldn't lend me the rest of the money to buy it, because he thought mustangs were "silly" cars. He ended up selling it the next day.

Almost 20 years later and I still haven't forgiven him for it.

Depends....

On the condition of both cars. Given the nature of flex issues, leaks, and hard to aquire T-tops parts these days, I sure as hell wouldn't pass over a clean convertible for a ragged out T-top car.

You said there was a $2K price difference. Why? Condition of cars? Or mods?
