I have a 2004 5 speed Mustang GT. Heard a screeching sound (like a bad fan belt x 10) while driving & called AAA. I was told it was my radiator fan & that I had a small leak. The clutch felt different at the same time. Took it to the dealer & was told I had a radiator leak & also needed a new clutch. Should have had it towed somewhere else but let them fix it. As soon as I picked it up, I immediately noticed it sounded like an automatic V-6. Took it back but they said that the exhaust hadn't been changed & that it was fine. No, it's not... took it to another dealer who said the same thing- all was ok. Took it to a muffler shop. They checked the catalytic converter, checked the install, said it was a Mustang exhaust, said the dealer hadn't touched the muffler and said they couldn't find what could have caused the change in the sound. I'm dyin' here. I shouldn't need to purchase Flowmaster or some other exhaust when my car was extremely loud with its stock exhaust. Any ideas?

It shouldn't have been loud with the stock exhaust. Possibly it was loose and someone tightened it up thinking they were doing you a favor?

Thanks! It was so loud - and I'd had the clutch replaced before with no change in the sound, but what u said appears to be the only explanation.
I guess I'll have to get an after market exhaust to get the sound I had with the stock exhaust.
