Progress Thread My Kenne Bell Twin Screw'd Foxbody thread, (new addition to the family)

you can use the sn95 axles with ALL the stock sn95 brake stuff, the housings didnt change between the fox and the 94-98 (99-04 has longer axle tubes, and even longer axles). the sn axles ARE longer than the fox ones, so you need the proper wheel offset but it has been done before.

the other option is the ranger axles (or aftermarket 28-spline 5-lug, but at that point you might as well switch to a 31-spline carrier imo) and either nrc brackets OR use the sn brackets, cut a pie slice out, and stick it behind the axle tube flange on the other side (driver side goes to passenger, passenger side goes to driver, keep their orientation). either option may require some washers between the caliper and bracket to center the caliper over the rotor (production tolerances).

Correction....you need 2-left side (drivers side) Ranger axles. The Ranger rear end is offset from the center and the axles are two different lengths.

Any year Ranger, in any configuration will do the trick. '83-'93 Rangers had 29.125" axles. The later '93-'up Rangers got slightly wider 30.125" axles. The right side axles of all '83-up Rangers are all too short to fit the Mustang rear axle tubes. The FX4's, got 31-spline axles.
All model year (1986-1997) passenger-side Aerostar axles will also work. Same length as driver-side Ranger.

Thanks for all that info guys. I was going to jump on that CL ad and buy that SN95 brake swap but I decided to do one thing at a time and right now that is focusing on getting my car running and tuned first before doing anything else.

I'm going to stop by another performance shop today in person and talk with them after work. It's been a week now since stopping by to check on my car and I'm not positive but pretty darn sure my car is still untouched. I will see how this other shop is and If I feel good about them and my car is still untouched when I check on it on Monday then I will immediately call a tow truck and move my car elsewhere.

I'm on the fence if I should:
a) stop by today where my car is right now and threaten to remove my car if It's not inside the shop and getting worked on by Monday
b) or If I should just show up Monday without warning and have it towed if it's still outside untouched.

I feel some people just need to get some attitude and be threatened with losing my business in order to motivate them but I friggin hate doing that. Some people don't need that and they just do what they say and say what they do like a real adult should.

Your opinion is valued of course.

Of those 2 options I'd do (b). Just pick it up and take it elsewhere. If you feel like this other business is worthwhile I'd take it there. I probably would stop on Friday and casually ask about it. If their answers aren't satisfactory...option (b)

This thread is taking a @hoopty5.0 kind of right turn lol. First off I told that retard Chad from Exhaust Solutions to take a hike and I got my car back. The guy is a liar and an a-hole. Anyways I still have a dead car and few less dollars in my pocket but I feel it could've been worse if I continued eat their sh*t.

So, more new big news and I do not have this well thought out yet but for now I'm stoked to be driving a clean ass fox thanks to @GroverDill for being a CL junkie.

Check it!

So my Wife asked me last night what the plan was for the new Mustang and i'm tossing a couple ideas around. First I think the mandatory minimum is to steal some parts from the notch such as the rear axle with 3.73 gears, short throw shifter, steeda double hook quad w/ vable and firewall adjuster. You might be asking yourself what's happening with the Notch? It's going to get harvested and get gone. I have no loyalty to it and it was fun working on it.

Maybe switch out my Eibach Pro kit and new suspension with CC plates and UPR bump steer?

I'm on the fence with performance stuff. I want the reliability of the stock motor but I wouldn't mind more HP of course. So the question that comes to mind is should I swap motors or should I just do a full exhaust on the new hatch and purchase from Nick @84Ttop an S trim and attempt to leave it at that? BTW, i hate asking this, how much rwhp will a stock 5.0 put out with a Vortech with a 5 spd?

I'm going to enjoy the car for the rest of the season and not do anything too intensive that would leave it on jack stands for a long period of time. I have the winter coming up soon for that kind of stuff.

The stock 5.0 with and s trim will make in the neighborhood of 300rwhp, add a top end kit and 450rwhp is a sure bet, can be very reliable and boat loads of fun to drive on the street ;)

I think you should really focus on what your plans are for the red car now that you have such a nice one. (Ask @hoopty5.0 about how nice it is to NOT have a car that never runs, and is always a project).

For me all of the cars that become platforms for the never ending quest for "more HP of course" is the deathnail for having a car that is fun to drive.
I'm sure @GroverDill can testify, as I've already seen it from him, 900 HP actually gets old when it comes to having a car that is the go-to for going "anywhere anymore".

I think a 300-350 RWHP target is in a Fox mustang is the perfect HP number where the best of both worlds intersect. I don't have to tell you that it doesn't take a SC to get the car there.

Mod it, make it "your's", bump the power up to my recommendations and drive the damn thing. It's more fun for most when they can actually drive the damn things instead of just talking about it.

I'm absolutely over "building" a car at the moment. I want to add some more HP eventually but I think at the moment I want one or the other, a HCI motor or long block with boost. Both seems like it'll make the same power just not sure which is more reliable.

I am completely focusing on the red hatch, just trying to decide what to harvest from the Notch to use on it is all so I can sell the notch and get my garage space back.

Believe me when I tell you that had that car not been 2000 miles away from me, it'd be in my garage.( well,....scratch that, the Monster is in the garage.........it'd be here instead of there, that's what I'm sayin). A 35 yr old garaged survivor that has managed to dodge the knife for this long, and be had for 4k is almost too good to be true.

Still had the dang Mustang mud flaps on it which are now removed. It has all the smog crap still on it. Has a crappy Spectre air filter on it but the stock CAI is laying in the hatch and has a CD player. Other than that this car is bone stock. The seam under the car (just below the doors) are normally beaten up with a hammer for some reason but this one isn't, it's perfectly straight. I was really happy about that.

I'm not going to make any haste decisions about the car. For now it'll be the gears, short shifter and upgrade the clutch cable and quadrant. All things you can't see anyway.

Great find, and this thread is now interesting to me. No offense to the project car but stock ones really get me going.
My .02.
When my car had MAM, long tubes, full exhaust and 4.10's, otherwise factory original it was dead reliable, and an absolute blast on the street and at the track chasing a 12 second time slip (which I finally got on a 2600' DA morning here in the desert). Sometimes I wish I had done suspension work and installed a T-Moss lower and called it a day. Would have been a 12.8 second car in the desert, 12.40-12.60 car at sea level, and knocked down 26mpg with no drama.
If I were to pick up a clean stock'r, that would be my plan.

Have fun
