Zip Tying Imrc's And A Power Question

Hello, new member here and first post:burnout:

I have been searching and reading old posts about zip tying the imrc's open. I have had no luck with finding posts with Active photo links, so the post is there but the pics don't show up. Does anyone have Photos of how the imrc's are zip tied to the open position they can share? That would help greatly. I want them in the open position so both intake valves will get fuel on them as I drive. Plus I'd like to put a little water in the vacuum line to do some decarbonization and have it help clean the secondary intake valve.

Last but not least, I also want to use some CRC GDI intake valve cleaner and have it hit both intake valves and butterflies. This stuff here, about $12 from Napa CRC Intake Valve Cleaner I have used it before with a very noticeable difference. To me it's kinda like a sprayable Seafoam.

My 96 is bone stock with 50k miles on it and seems to run just fine with no codes. I am still Unsure about the 3200 rpm "power boost" and what the boost indicates. I have good power down low and still "feel" the power boost above 3200 rpm or so. Does that mean my imrc's need cleaning or are working fine. When time comes and I have do to pull them for a manual hand cleaning, I will remove the shaft and butterflies, then weld the holes up making my own deletes. I'll have 4.10's by then.

You're better off just pulling the IMRCs and cleaning them with some good old fashioned elbow grease (sprayable solutions; Seafoam, etc) only do so much for de-carbonization on these pieces. If you can't find the "how-to" clean IMRC PDF article buried in past threads in this section try running a search on Google for it...

G'luck !

Thanks for the reply COBRA90GT. I've read many IMRC cleaning write ups and have them bookmarked for when the time comes. I am just unsure what the Symptoms are that indicate they need hand cleaning, besides throwing a code.

What does the "power boost" above 3250 rpm boost indicate. I have good power down low and still "feel" the power boost above 3250 rpm or so. Are they working fine or need a cleaning?
