Build Thread The Hoopty Chronicles - New House, New garage, New Car?

  • Sponsors (?)

Did you have the old car before the new car?...I forget.

Isn't it somewhere in this thread where you admit that you plod along on some crazy ass path despite being advised to " keep off the moors, and stick to the roads"?

What difference will it make if you get 7500 for the car? You gonna buy. Another 4-5, and go through all of the headache to get it where the current one is .......again?

How many times are you gonna do this to yourself?

The only way I'm gonna let you off is if you need the money, if not, smack yourself.

Well, I don't like to complain about money on here for a multitude of reasons, but we are on an extremely tight margin right now.

I'll most likely keep it and just hope for the best until the end of the year.

I still say you should do the magic mike thing. You'll make fat stacks and can keep the fox..

LOLZ. Wow.

I decided to tinker on. My tailpipes are gonna have to go bye bye for the PHB to go in. I have an idea for a torque arm too. Won't be hard, but I'll need to make my own transmission mount that will double as the arm mount.

The downside is I have the same amount of money to start this project as I do to finish my P head project:

$0.02

updated some ideas about a better way to make a torque arm for a fox. Please add input as you see fit. Excuse the crudeness, but should be able to get some CAD renderings developed pretty soon as soon as I get some measurements made.

And you want to do this because...? Are the MM parts too expensive, too heavy, too hard to install or what? I guess I don't get the need to re-invent a pretty solid piece that is readily available and has a proven track record
Edit:
Even after going back and reading your reasons, I am not sure outside of an exercise in engineering that it is worth the time and effort. The Fox platform just is not conducive to this type of rear suspension. Everything seems to be a compromise to make a torque arm and panhard bar work on a Fox. If you do figure it out though, then mad props to you for seeing this through.

@Bullitt347 Let me rephrase. I got to talking with a local mustang guy who is an engineer and like to model things in CAD. You see him pop up on Corral occasionally because he is the guy who makes the brackets that allow people to run late model brakes on foxes. Anyway, there are certain things he dislikes about the design of the different TAs out there and wants to incorporate the better parts of each design into one arm. I am on board and am curious to see what we can come up with. I get a ton of enjoyment out of making things from scratch.

Maybe it is, but I got the same responses when I started porting GT40P heads too. I'm not out to prove anything, it's just me tinkering and seeing what I am capable of. if it doesn't work, then I'll move on to my next hair-brained idea.

I understand, I mean, it is not like I haven't' gone off the deep end and done the unconventional build despite all of the other proven combo's out there. Again, I hope you make it work, who knows maybe it will be the next great thing for the FoxBody crowd.

We'll see. We got the same comments on the local board as well. If it works, cool, if not then... *shrug*. I can't explain the why as well as the other guy can, other than he sees deficiencies in some of the designs out there now.
