looking into buying this car

1967 mustang coupe v8 c ,code

i only know what is in the add. i am checking it out tommorow. what do you guys think is a fair price based on the info that is available. i am kind of new to the older mustangs so if there is any specific area in the car i should be checking out let me know.

from the little research i have done i think under 3000 would be a fair price.

thanks

It says no rot so why does it need patch panels ? Lower rear quarters are a typical spot for rot .Check the bottoms of the doors for blistering ,a sign of rot .look inside the trunk up in the quarters for shoddy repairs such as over lapped quarter repairs. check the floors for shoddy repairs and rot .If it is in good shape $3000 would not be a bad price .
Problem with Craigs list is these guys think because it says Mustang on the car it is worth a fortune and i would bet the price range is between 4- 5000.

you were pretty much spot on. lowest he said he could possible go was 4000. i offered him 2500, he was nice and understood but said he has 4000 into it so there is no way he can take less. one of those people that says if i dont get what i want i will just finish it. which we all know means let it sit around until it is just about worthless.

the floors had been patched, but are rotting through again. drivers side needs the full length replaced. all of the frame rails surprisingly were in good shape. it looked like the passenger side rear quarter had already been patched and was rotting again. front right quarter has something bubbling through the paint. there wasnt much stuff that was salvageable in the interior.

it did run really well though which is a plus and with minimal effort could have been a driving project.

i checked out a different 66 today. was driving down the street and it was on the side of the road so i checked it out. he wanted 5k. paint was bubbling in alot of spots but there wasnt any huge spots of rot llike the other one. interior was in really good shale, only the passengee seat needed a new cover on it. motor looked fine and the car runs and drives. my one main point of concern was the front end. the front tires had pretty different relationships compared to the fendee. you can see the right front is almost even with the fender. while the left front looks to be pushed in 3 inches. what do you think caused this? is it a deal breaker? he did mention some welding on the front left inner fender that i took pics of. he said you just cut those welds and realign the fender. i said that would probably work but your just hiding what might be a bigger issue.
