Progress Thread My Kenne Bell Twin Screw'd Foxbody thread, (new addition to the family)

Haven't been doing much with the Mustang except driving it. I installed a new sunroof weather stripping and my Flowmaster American Thunder 2.5" exhaust which sounds and looks perfect. My hatch and door seals are FUBAR and I have new ones that I need to install. Probably won't be until December when the engine and trans comes out.
Why are you pulling the motor and trans?

Why are you pulling the motor and trans?
That's a very good question. The short answer is my engine needs new valve cover gaskets, oil pan gasket and new rear main seal. Where it gets complicated is I'm not sure what is going back in my hatch, put the stock engine back in it or put in my HCI motor along with PiMP. I'm leaning toward the HCI motor but I'm thinking before I do that I might throw out the TFS stage 2 cam and get a custom cam. Not sure the TFS 2 cam is right for my performer heads (2.02in/1.6ex) and older performer rmp intake

Which motor is in better shape? Isn't the present one fairly low mileage? I do recommend a cam change(especially if you want a milder idle/better street manners-without sacrificing performance). Would you be better off throwing all the topend onto the present motor instead of straight swapping? Other than the pita of doing so? Just asking...

I don't mind the work but the 2.02 intake valves require valve reliefs cut into the pistons. Just more work than those heads are probably worth. Nothing wrong with the current 73k motor it's just under powered but still fun and reliable. I have a "needs nothing" 350 hp motor ready to drop in so why take it all the way apart? I may just throw the motor in and run it with the TFS 2 cam just to see how the engine runs and how the cam behaves. I can always do the cam upgrade another time down the road.

How about keeping the stock motor and swapping the topend over with a stock cam and buying a blower:D. Or just installing the blower sans the other goodies? Could sell the coupe and pay for the goodies. It's fun thinking about all the ways to have more fun with these cars. Lol. Oh and the tfs 11r's have tons more ptv clearance...hehehe
Wait...mine still isn't running:bs::(

Crazy wind storm last night blew down a bunch of trees, fences and power lines last night. My 6ft cedar fence completely blew over last night :fuss: and my power is out but that's better than what some other people experienced. Once I get the fence rebuilt and finish my small home remodel project to make the wife happy I'll be pulling the motor + trans out of the hatch and begin that winter project :)

@FoxMustangLvr

Sounds like we almost have the same engine. The only difference is i have the tfs track max cam. I can't help but wonder how much better it would run with a custom cam..

Did you need that much of a spacer just to clear your valve covers? I'm looking at getting the VC's that you have and I'm wondering if I need 1/2" or a 1" spacer. I have a 2" cowl hood to clear it.
The systemax hangs so low it wouldn't clear the breather . They are gone now

Just a couple more bolts and disconnects and it'll be ready to pull. Should have it out this weekend. It's funny, it's so cold out that my beer actually got colder by the time I removed the radiator and upper intake. Gotta love winter!
