Hi. I have a 93 mustang lx 5.0 i am going to build the engine and was needing some advice. The parts i have are a set of eldelbrock petformer heads with 2.02 valves that has pedestal mount rockers. I also have a gt40 intake. I was wondering what cam i should use for the most power and still use the efi ? Also how much rwhp would i expect? The car is a automatic with 3.73 gears . Any advice would be appreciated.

Another descent cam is the comp cams xe270hr. And all the cams mentioned will work with forced induction. You also can check out Anderson ford Motorsports. They have a few cams designed specifically for a blower. Just a FYI you can also contact flowtechinductions.com,bullet cams,Lunati, etc. they all have forms you can fill out and get a recommendation. Also you're going to need to modify the trans for best performance is stall converter, shift kit-valve body, etc

you are most likely going to have to notch your pistons with 2.02 intake valves.. You will need to measire PTV clearance, Also, you will need to measure for proper pushrod length and make sure the valve springs are matched to the cam you buy. For rockers, I would recommend Crane Gold or on a budget Ford Racing.

If you put together that intake, the heads, a 65MM TB, a 70MM or larger Pro M MAF, a good set of headers and either a TFS1, comp 270h or anderson n41 cam you should be around 275ish rwhp.

Know that the AOD is a lot quirkier than the T5 and you will most likely need a tune to solve your surging idle issues.

If you know now that you are going to add a power adder in the near future, you are better off getting a cam designed for the power adder to take full advantage of it.

Thanks for all the advice fellas i appreciate it. It will probably be a while before i put a supercharger or turbo on it. I figured i would build the engine and upgrade the transmission then work on the suspension before i do the power adder. Do you all like the comp xe270hr or the tfs stage 1 cam the best?

Both of those are great cams. I've personally run the tfs1. I think you may get a few more hp out of the 270 but not enough to justify its higher cost.
Personally if you are chasing numbers I would contact a company for a custom grind. If you are looking for a solid performer you can't go wrong with the tfs.

Agreed

I have a question I know this is a old thread I started I'm going to try to get started on the car this year. What kind of tuning would I have to have for surging issues? Would I have to buy a chip or a quarter horse? I'm a little lost when it comes to this most of what I have worked on is older cars with a carburetor.
