Hello, so I got my 1990 GT. I want to get a full exhaust setup. It's completely stock. I want my mustang to sound loud. During idle and on the road. Price is not a problem, so if you know any good setup I'd be greatly appreciated

Go to youtube and search different exhaust and find a exhaust note that you like. If you want it to sound good at idle, you'd want a cam. This a street car, street/strip, or a strip car?

loud does not equal more hp. If you want the loudest exhaust cut the pipes off after the cats. On a completely stock motor, I wouldnt bother with anything but a decent cat back from flowmaster or dynomax. Anything more is a waste of money, time and effort imo.

sounds like he is planning to do the exhaust anyhow, so I'd stick with what I mentioned. Don't bother swapping headers unless you're willing to go straight to longtubes, or you'll just be wasting funds, as you will one day go to longtubes anyhow

LT's suck on a street car. Cat back of your choice and don't touch anything else. Swapping to shorty headers is a waste unless your stock manifolds are cracked.

never had that issue but I wasnt all that low

I prefer flowmasters but it's a 50/50 deal. You either do or you hate them. Exhaust note is very personal opinionated. Like posted above go over to utube and check out some videos.

Hmm,.......note to self:thinking:

Watch this thread to see how long it takes before a "Drone driving me crazy at 2200 RPM" thread comes along...

Mentorship my friends. Older guys that have "been there/done that" coaching younger ones as to why they don't want one or all of the following: (You know,...like your daddies used to do before you kept ignoring them too)

Dumped, smelly, catless exhaust;
Stupid appearance add-ons;
Obnoxious power mods that make the car no longer reliable to trust to go more than 50 miles at a whack.
Loud ass, "Hey cops! look at me !" exhaust.

Show me a guy that still has one of the above conditions in place, and I'll show you the definition of "remorse at 40". If you got older, and decided that you didn't like it anymore because you were more "mature" then I could've saved you money when you were younger.

Loud exhaust that is soo loud that I can hear it w/ my windows rolled up one block in front of me, prevents that driver from hearing jack,....like the M/C that is in his blind spot, the horn from some other driver,....the siren from the ambulance trying to get around him....etc, etc, etc......

And before you line up to call me crotchedy,........telling me that "kids will be Kids", and "they all have to go through a learning phase, and it's not my car",..and blah, blah, blah.

Consider how many of you would jump up to advise the guy that wants to convert his car from a running F.I over to carb.............or put on a double stack wing, or a 5" cowl on a street car, or cut a coil and a half to get the car in the weeds,.......

I like a loud good sounding exhaust too and I'm happy with my stock 5.0 engine breathing through BBK 1 5/8" long tube headers, o/r h-pipe, to dual Flowmaster American Thunder muffler and LX stainless tips. Has a good exhaust note at idle and is plenty loud when you step on the skinny. No drone too.

My drone isnt terrible esp now with the long tubes on it. Ive done multiple hour plus trips with no issue. The fumes well yes they suck. Ive considered converters but its a toy. I dont stink when i get out of the car and stuff so i am ok with it.
