Does anyone know the differences between the NT05R and NT555R? the 05r looks more like a true cheater slick while the 555r looks like a more normal street tire with a stickier compound. Based on looks the 05r seems to be the best for traction. I don't drive the car in the rain, and I only drive about 2k miles per year so I don't mind them wearing out fast IF the traction is much better. I'm mostly concerned with straight line launching on the street and plan on going to Byron dragway a few times a year. I currently have BF Goodrich all seasons (285/40/17) and with my 5 speed and 4.10 gear they spin pretty easy. I am adding a 75 hp shot of N20 and a Cobra intake so they will spin even easier. Finally, I have the original 15x7 turbines so I could turn those into track only wheels with tires, but I still want traction on the street with my 17 inch wheels.

I'm running the 555's and for a street tire I like them. Your assessment between the two is correct. I would recommend the 555's for an everyday tire. You should get at least 10k miles out of them and many have gotten more. Depends on how hard you are on them lol. I'm not sure I'd run the n05's everyday. Also for track use I'd just buy a 26x8.5" bias ply tire for your 15x7 tires. I wouldn't bother trying to have a dual use 17" tire. Just using a bias ply tire is way easier at the track. You will have more consistent results. You should see at least a 1.8 60 ft and if you have a good suspension/driving skills you'll be under that.

Very good advice. It makes sense cause I should get better traction on the street with the 555's than my all seasons and since I have the stock wheels just sitting in my basement anyway I might as well get some use out of them. Plus only going a few times a year to Byron they will last a long time. The bonus is it will still look stock at the track!

This car made 460 at the wheels before I sold it (regrettably) and they would not break loose despite my best efforts. Can't comment on how they were in the rain, but id imagine it was like any other drag radial that errs on the side of cheater slick - Scary.

nt01's on my old turbo fox. Great grip once heated up

That's what i have. They do great and corner like nuts.

They're a little dirty from the wet gravel driveway.
