4 Inch Cowl Hood

  • Sponsors (?)

Well i thought i decided against it but when i saw it on the car it looked great so I bought it. I also bought a mishimoto e fan with aluminum shroud and a moroso expansion tank. The hood was bought new, painted, and never left his garage. The fan, shroud, and expansion tank were new in the box never mounted from AM. If I dont like the hood when i put it on in the spring i figure i will just sell it and go back to stock or a smaller cowl.

I bought mine with the 4" cowl installed on it. He also had the stock hood which he gave me too. I'm not sure it would clear with the intake spacer though. I like the look, it gives the car attitude. I owned two other fox bodies I bought brand new in my younger days that were bone stock, so been there, done that. Do what you think looks good to you. IMO part of the fun of restoring and customizing these cars is to make it your own and have fun with it. Everybody has different opinions of what looks good.

I have to admit that hood looks nice. I still think it is too big but post some pics after its installed...maybe you'll convince me otherwise. [emoji6] You are the one driving it so your opinion is what matters most in the end.

I didn't like the four eye before but over the years I've grown to like it a lot. My fox is aero but I now appreciate both styles.

I was the same way back in the 80's. The 4 eyes(especially the 85-86's) really grew on me and when I started looking for a fox I had to have one.

Mike your car would look amazing with a shaved deck lid. I never understood why they insisted on a luggage rack.

I bought the car that way. BTW I have a clean decklid and a cobra wing in my garage for about a year..lol Too many other things to do on the car and only so much money... That is on my list to get painted- Quoted about 600-700 to paint the trunk, wing and blend in the rear of the car,,, wish Dave was closer as I can't paint worth a damn

Thanks for all you guys responding with your opinions and ideas! I have a hard time passing up a great deal so I bought it. As soon as I put it on in the spring I will for sure post pics.

So then, despite the overwhelming majority advising against installing a drag race themed hood on a car that is clearly never gonna see a drag strip to warrant the needed clearance,...you went ahead and bought that because it was a good deal?

My mom does that at the grocery store,....Consequently, she has enough meat to survive the Zombie apocalypse.;)

Hey madmike are you always an as*hole or are you just having a bad day? I have been to and raced at a couple of drag strips several times, and I will be going more this year. And if you would have read my posts, I CLEARY stated that if I don't like it once installed I will go back to stock (or smaller cowl hood) and sell the 4 inch. And thanks for letting me know I should go to your mom's house when the zombie apocalypse!

Today Bob F we'll learn about emoticons, and their intended usage as they apply to indicate ribbing, getting your eye poked, or sarcasm in general.

When you see one used in a reply, they generally give evidence that the comment wasn't intended to convey as much attitude as you might otherwise surmise. I.e. the little winky dude at the end of my comment typically conveys that you are being kidded.

It's like this Bob. You asked for advice or opinion.

Why?

When the general consensus recommends something, and you just ignore it anyway, why bother to ask for opinon or advice in the first place?

And as for the "Always an *******" comment,.....yes.
Am I having a bad day,....no.

Chill out Bob,....you were being messed with.

Install your cowl, it's yours to do as you see fit.

Now, as long as you can see past it,....you'll be golden.

Thanks for making me LMAO, and for the lesson on emoticons! I think we are alike in attitude and use of sarcasm, you just use emoticons and I use direct words. I also think in the old days before forums etc. when people actually talked in person, and you could see peoples expressions and know when they are kidding or not. For example: we are both at the drag strip in the staging lanes and you say to me "nice car and man it is FAST, but that cowl hood is way to big!" We both laugh and then I say "screw you Mike, let's race and the loser buys beer" After the race we are enjoying a beer which you bought. I'm glad we are both having good days.

I'm sorry that you think that way Bob.

Two things. ( to directly address my above comment)

#1. I've long since given up on building drag cars, I do not even go to the strip to watch my friends race.
#2. There is no way in hell you'd beat me.
