In Need Of Performance Info For A 96 Mustang Gt 4.6

First off id like to say thanks for taking the time to give a nubie some perfomance info. I recently bought a 96 Thunderbird with a 96 Mustang GT 4.6 along with the complete rear axle with 3.73 gears. It has the usual easy mods cold air intake, true duals with x-pipe and Flowmaster series 60 mufflers. Again thanks for the help

If you're going that far, why not just pick up an explorer engine, drop the cams in that, and do a simple in/ out swap? Less weight is just as valuable as HP, plus less down time that way. Keep the GT engine as a spare, a core for building, or sell it and recover cost.

Any kind of internal mods will be expensive unless you do it yourself. I made my old 96 decently quick but I did most of the work with the help of friends under the carport. The main mods were a PI intake swap, Comp 262 cams and 4.10 gears. Went from about 175RWHP stock to 235RWHP and from a 15 second car to mid 13's. Long tubes and bigger cams may have netted another 50HP for me and aside from boosting it that is about the limit you would get from any mods on that engine.
