Build Thread Enola- Finishing touches

I was actually successful in getting the car to idle down to 650 rpm steady (albeit with a small hunt) it's all about afr and timing... lower idle pulls less vacuum so you need more timing to bring the vacuum signal up, this causes it's own issue however because then you must restrict the air charge more (less throttle) and this causes the car to hunt as the iac fights hard against the vacuum pulses..... I settled on an 775 rpm idle so when I load the engine (electric loads and ps load) at idle I don't get a drop in rpm. Blah blah blah lala LA LA LA LA LA blah blah.... tuning voodoo black magic chicken bone.
I need to get with the times and learn efi voodoo.

vids will come I just want to get the car all prepped to drive.. ie no leaks or issues... today I plugged in the laptop to make sure that I was getting sensor information that " made sense" as I moved the tps and the mat sensor locations. I'm happy to say that having the mat sensor in the intake tubing gives me a much more accurate reading instead of heat soak. I will get a vid of the new setup idling in the yard for you guys and hopefully I can setup the go pro on the car and go for a drive.

in other news I need a set of upper and lower control arms for the car. I have done some shopping around and the car is supposed to be a true budget build.. but I cant bring myself to put a set of no name arms on Franky.... I really like the UPR adjustable uppers and lowers the quality looks good price is nice and they are made right here in America. any thoughts???

get on the MS help thread that Collin so kindly named after me, you can download the tuning software and datalog viewer for free. this will let you open and view the tune files that we post as well as see how simple the interface is. I have videos posted up of myself running thru the software with explanations of the functions, I'm still working on some of the advanced user videos.

I've been following it. Can't say as I truly understand it much, but the possibilities are intriguing. ms is on my wishlist.

Certainly beats my current method of sacrifing goats and rattling chicken bones at my car.

I feel like control arm opinions are going to be like exhaust or shifters, just personal preference. You can see the thread about Steeda/MM right now, and I personally really like the Whiteline arms I have on my car (pretty sure they make them for foxes also). I think its more about the bushing type really. What type of ride quality vs performance you are after. You cant really go wrong with any of the major name brands. For whatever reason, UPR is actually the only brand that stands in my mind as questionable. I remember reading about an issue with broken welds on front control arms and K members a while back, but that was 2-3 years ago.

I know that I am bias, but I have never had an issue with any MM part I'vve bought in over 20 years,, and their quality and tech support are second to none. I've also bought J&M control arms and CC plates ( which if I recall was started by a former MM employee) and was impressed with the quality.

I run the cheap lmr ones and they have held up well (surprisingly). I got mine on sale for like 120ish and beat the crap out of them.

On a budget =LMR
Buy once and forever = MM adjustable

Are you going do reinforce the torque boxes while you're at it?

Yes torque box reinforcement while I'm in there. This car does not get launched hard but better safe than sorry.

I actually pulled the trigger on a set of street beast arms from team z. @A5literMan hooked me up.

I'm very interested to see your results with them. They have a good rep. Some hard core racers were seeing significant 60 ft improvements and they look like great pieces. I kept going back and forth on selling them but glad they're going to another Stangnet(er).

small update.... I tried to get a video but about 10seconds in my Go-Pro apparently went dead..... figures.
I drove the car about 50 miles this weekend, tuned it a little bit (mostly just autotune) and she runs amazing! I'm very happy with the overall build so far.
The only issue I am having is a leaking valve cover breather, the grommet to be exact... these covers don't have any baffles in them. the passenger side seals perfectly, the driver side grommet seems a bit loose. almost like the hole was drilled a bit to big.... does anyone have a good idea on how to fix that little issue??? I was thinking some rubber tape to expand the breather a bit would press the grommet out more but I don't want to loose any of that into the rockers.. the sc has to come off in order to get to them...

I eas going to say black electric tape. Wrap it tight until the fit is snug. If you dont like that idea, go get the true aluminum duct tape. A buddy of mine uses that on a loose lip seal bore in his mud bog truck. Calls it "shim tape" LOL

question for the boosted guys and racers... @hoopty5.0 @GroverDill @Boosted92LX
@madmike1157 @A5literMan @Decipha [I know you tune]

trying to redo my timing curves.... I'm not melting anything down or running hot, but everything I read says ive got too much timing in the motor under boost.... it loves the timing up until about 4krpm then [could just be the roots blower and cam] by 5k she is done. stops really pulling hard.

here are my tables. car is speed density
they are in kpa 100 is wot na. 130=4-5lbs 170=10lbs 220=17lbs
car has never seen more than 9psi, 2kto3.5k I average 9psi 3.5to4.5k=7.5 from 5k up 6psi
Capture.PNG
table on the right is my old boost advance table.... is it too aggressive?
on the left is my new table based on internet crap...

I'm useless on reading/understanding/tuning those tables. I have very little history on boosted motors. I will say that I know the cam is good to beyond 5k. The e cam has a normal sweet spot of around 5500 for a peak and capable of a little more before maxing.

I guess the easiest way to find out is just take a little timing out and see how the car responds. Especially if at the track, you would be able to have an accurate real world data point. It sure wouldn't hurt anything to take some out and see:shrug:

My question would be... Is the valve springs up to the task? With the extra pressure from the blower I know this can be an issue. Btw did you get the package?
