Hey guys, long time no see. Im picking up a new project soon, so you guys will probably be seeing me around more often.

Im going pick up a wrecked '94 GT and plan on pulling the motor and transmission to put in another project. I was going to find an explorer, but I need a Mustang computer and wiring harness, and the price on this is too good to pass up.

Ive never pulled an engine from an SN95, so where will I need to mount the hoist at? Do I need to remove the upper intake as well?

Its an automatic (unfortunately, because I need a T5, but i can sell the AODE). I plan on removing the engine and transmission as one piece. Im honestly not going to be too worried about saving mounts and stuff like that on the car. Ill probably use a sawzall on the engine mounts if the bolts give a hint of being stuck. But i do need to keep the wiring together.

So if im removing the engine, I just need to drain coolant, unhook wiring, remove driveshaft, speedo cable, clutch cable, motor mounts, cooling hoses, evacuate A/C and disconnect lines, and disconnect PS lines. Then it should all just magically lift out right? Haha

When I installed a Cobra engine & tranny in my 'Stang, I used nylon webbing that were wrapped around the exhaust manifolds. Old seat belts (made of the same material) will work just as well. Also, many engines still have the factory lift plates installed on the exhaust manifolds. They look something like this:

I believe there were only two of these used by Ford to put the engines in. This link has some photos of me putting the cobra engine in, you can see the silver nylon belts:

I see the one on the driver side is there. Where would the other one be?

Caution on the stock lift-plates (on the exhaust manifold) if you're in a road-salted area. After 20+ years the original bolts are an accident waiting to happen. Same goes for lifting by the manifolds at all -- especially since they're tubular. I've seen a guy pull a 460 with a carb-mounted plate on an aluminum manifold, but I prefer thick chain on a head bolt myself.
