I'd use them. As mentioned, they will help distribute the load along the entire length of the pan rail. It certainly won't hurt using them.
Mismatched MAF's aren't going to screw up the computer, it will cause the car to run poorly and spit out codes.. Yes that is not the correct MAF...

FIrst- disconnect the battery for 1/2 an hour with your headlight switch on. Then reconnect the battery- see if that clears up any stored memory...
