    More Rear End Questions

Long time no see Stangnet, I've been busy working on the 65' fastback and getting the body ready for paint. I'm starting to try to get the rear suspension, axles, wheels, and tires going now and have a few questions. 1. I'm running a 347, fuel injected, and turbo'd motor (haven't been dyno'd...

Help 1965 Fastback. What Is This Rack And Pinion Off Of?

65 Mustangs didn't come standard with a rack and pinion steering. More than likely it's from a Mustang II conversion which uses a fox body rack and pinion.

Paint and Body Finally Getting To Paint!

We entered that number in their system and it didn't turn up any results. I'm thinking the reason why is because that is for their traditional solvent based paint and not waterborne.

Paint and Body Finally Getting To Paint!

So I got the car back from sandblasting and would like to put the original paint color on it using PPG's waterborne system. But for the life of me, I can't find the paint code for PPG to put on the prairie bronze color. The online site only goes back to 2008. You guys wouldn't happen to know...

    Drop Spindles On Your 65?

Hey guys, Doing the front suspension, brakes, and steering on the front of my fastback. Just wondering if any of you are running drop spindles and if so, what size tires are you running?

    Rear Tire Width Question

Going to start the body work soon and was looking around for ideas on tire width. What's the widest you guys have gone on a 65 with stock body and axle length? I measured out 12in from frame to fender, so with the correct offset on the rim I can get a 10.5w tire in there right?

    65 Dash Removal Question

I have removed the dash pad on my 65 and the instrument cluster and I was wondering if there is any way to remove the dash itself so I can cut out the rest of the old wiring easier. I also wanted to get it cleaned up and painted. Any help would be great.

    The Million Dollar Question

If the engine is still in the car, I would just do heads and cam and enjoy your beast. If the engine is out and you got the time, money, and it isn't your daily driver, I'd invest in your forged internals and get the boost/spray later after the rest of the car is finished.

    66 Mustang 289 Engine

I'm in the middle of the doing the same thing with my 289, but my aim is put some ponies down. My biggest suggestion is take your time, count your bolts and separate them into little sandwich ziplock baggies so you'll know exactly where they'll go when you rebuild. Measure everything with a good...

New Trans For A 65 Mustang

Yeah, I think I'm going to just rebuild the C4 I have now until I can afford the supercharger, then I'll get a new trans when I push over 550 hp

New Trans For A 65 Mustang

After talking with Performance Automatic, they don't have a rebuild kit that will handle that power for a pre 1970 c4. Looks like I got to buy a new trans anyhow. I'll look into those AODs. Thanks.

New Trans For A 65 Mustang

Update: So I guess the only thing that's different between a 65 and 66 c4 trans is they changed from a dual range transmission (small dot and big dot) to the standard PRND21 shifter. You can swap pieces back and forth but you have to have a shifter and bezel from a 66 and newer. Source...

New Trans For A 65 Mustang

Yeah but I don't want to spend 2500 dollars unless I have to. That's why I'm hoping someone has a good lead on a performance rebuild kit for a 65 c4.

    Blown65, Hows the project??

Yeah, I was hoping to find a rebuild kit and rebuild mine as opposed to buying a new trans, just for money's sake.

    Blown65, Hows the project??

Awesome numbers man! What year C4 did you have before you upgraded to the powerglide? I have the C4 out of my 65 and looking to make about 600 crank power and have been having a hell of a time trying to find a rebuild kit that will handle up to that much power. All of the kits I've found are for...
