    Finally After Eight Years...it's Alive!

Congratulations , very nice looking paint. Really liked the front seats and was wondering what type model car were they sourced from? Do they sit ok, as I've heard often changing seats causes you to sit too high, is this an issue? I noticed you inserted the Pony trim when you had them...

Engine Idle Low When Cold, High When Warm

It's possible your carby might have an air leak and is sucking air. Check the main gaskets first and if not, then check the carry itself .

    Engine Rebuild Complete

I too did a similar job and was considering changing to a Holley carb. However, doing creates additional mods with the choke & linkages which I didn't have time for! Therefore , it's easier to just go with the original auto lite set up. Fully agree, An Auto choke is the way to go!! If you...

    Engine Code?

Hi, I'm no expert but I've been told the letters C & D castes on a block stands for the decade, c= 1960s and D = 1970 motor. The next digit is the actual year so your casting no. commencing with D4 means you have a 1974 ford V8 motor in your vehicle. I can't help with the other letters/...

Great news & wld like to know some more details ? I have a 66 coupe and experienced continuos fuel related issues. It all started after i ran out of petrol one day. what followed ranged from vapor locks, no fuel reaching the carby, and continual stalling. Anyhow I spent unnecessary $$$...

Door Rain Channel Weather Striping Question.

No probs, I first couple of times I fitted those weatherstrips they ended up about 1-2inches too long because I stretched them in the fitting process. I the refitted them and was careful to NOT stretch them and they eventually fitted perfect and lined up perfectly! If you decide to glue them...

Door Rain Channel Weather Striping Question.

Your picture of the weather seal is correctly installed. The metal screw tab is located at the front closest to the windscreen. Note there is some play with these seals especially when new and you need to be careful not too over stretch them when installing otherwise you may find it appears...

    Door Tag

Ok, I'm no expert but on your first question, I cant say how much it hurts the value of the car but obviously an original matching numbers car with original tags is always the most valuable. On your second question, the answer is Yes. Many people for whatever may find cause to get a...

    help with carburetor choice

Im no carby expert but have tried a few different carbies and found the Holley 650 with vacuum secondaries is a very well suited carby for a mild 289. Unless you have a very worked race type motor running high lift cam , & worked heads, the 650 Holley with vac secondaries will do the job...

    Water from cowl

It's a pain and I"ve been told the only way to fix the leak is to replace the cowl. This is a massive job and involves drilling out hundreds of spot welds. One enthusiast counted them one day I remember being shocked at the number of welds that need to be drilled. Anyway, I have seen a...

    Won't start. Flooding. Carb?

Hi there, seems like you have followed All the correct fault resolution for non starting. Assuming you have spark at the plug end of the lead, the non firing may be caused by an incorrect firing order? Have you checked the firing order is correct?

Electrical Temp gauge not reading correctly

Agree with Bartl , I'm no autoelect but from experience most faulty temp gauge reads are caused by a faulty sender unit. Suggestion, not sure if you can test output of the temp sender unit ? If not, try changing the sender unit b4 doing other fault testing.

Error With Vin And Dataplate Details

Based on that info you can be 100% confident your 68 mustang was Painted with a J code paint. I am beginning to think those online decoders only ONLY about 90% accurate. Any vehicle ordered with special paint, other non common options for a specific build year can NOT be decoded correctly ! Jake

Error With Vin And Dataplate Details

What paint code is shown on the Marti ? Does this match the data plate specs ? If the Marti paint code matches your door plate code, then i would say that would almost be 100% accurate & is the original paint colour!

Error With Vin And Dataplate Details

Wally, With your 68, you can source the original build specs by obtaining a Marti report. If you are trying validate if its a matching # , this woul be the most reliable option!
