So I need to say I'm sorry, the project went on hold last year because I needed the oil pan modified, the friend that said he would do it for me drug his feet for a year, I had someone else do it for me, and its now done and hopefully things will get back under way.

if your compression was good its most likely the valve seals, Fords were famous for valve seals gong bad and then having one spark plug foul out on a regular bases.

OK the oil pan is off being modified, the headers clear the starter {barely but they clear LOL} and I have just received my NOS Hurst Shotgun torque converter, so we should be back on it soon.

let me elaborate, I noticed looking at some II pics online that the nose is different on a 74 and a 78, I have a 78 and the area with the Ford letters is much more narrow on the 78 from the 74, which leads me to think that the 74 hood may be shorter then the 78, my car had been in a front end...
