The KDW has two different tread designs, I think you are referring to the "new tread" ones. The stock mustang sizes (245/45/17 & 275/45/17) come in the other, traditional tread design.

Did your dash lights cut out or dim as well? If your fog lights (and dash?) stayed on then I would assume the alternator might be alright, and the main headlamp switch is still ok as well. You might want to check out your bulbs and their connections though. A while back I had a problem where...
