    2001 mach 460 head unit

Check out this tutorial. Its actually not for replacing the radio, but part of the instructions are removing the radio. There's just two screws on it once you take the trim away from around it. http://www.stangnet.com/tech/speedsound/ssv.html Hope that helps. Justin

    Head unit options

Not sure about the 96, but I was able to replace the head unit in my old 94 Mach 460 with a simple wiring harness from Circuit City. I tossed a few subs on it and it sounded pretty decent for stock speakers.

Guide to replacing your 2001 Mach 460 head unit

I have no personal experience with the '00 setup, but I believe you should be able to buy a simple wiring harness. Thats how it was in my old '94. I don't think that they complicated the system until '01. I'm pretty sure you can get a harness from Circuit City or wherever.

    Guys with XM

I have Sirius and I mounted the antenna all the way to the right side of my dash by the window. Not sure how comparable that is to XM, but it works great for me.

Guide to replacing your 2001 Mach 460 head unit

I beleive I set mine to 170Hz for the tweeters and 50Hz for the subs. I'd have to check my head unit to make sure though. Best bet is to just turn it on and listen to what sounds best. Just make sure you're not cranking bass through those tweeters.

Installing an aftermarket Head Unit in a Mach 460 car, whats involved?

When I replaced the Mach 460 head unit in my '94 GT, all I needed was a wiring harness from Circuit City or wherever and all was well. When replacing it in my '01 GT, I needed a special harness with RCA's on it, which I had to order online. If the '98 is the same as the '01, you can get the...

What do you use to keep your convertible top from fading?

Thanks a lot guys, I appreciate the info. I'm going to buy some this weekend. Is Autofanatics the place you'd recommend buying from? Prices look pretty much the same everywhere. Thanks again!

    speakers

Sounds like a plan. I knew you were runnin the tweeters off the head unit but didn't know what your plans were for wiring on the midranges. Sounds like you've got it all set though.

    speakers

Have you already looked into bypassing the system amps? I'm not exactly sure where they're located, but I would think that it would require you to run wire around them at some point. I've never changed the speakers out before, but from what I know about the system, I think you'll have to do this.

    well its here

Well that all depends on your head unit. I hooked my Mach 460 subs into the sub out on my head unit because I don't have any other subs at this point. Then I set the low-pass crossover on the sub out to only deliver bass to the subs. If you have more than one RCA out, you could put your Mach...

    well its here

Nice head unit. You shouldn't have any problems switching that out in the '01. Mine went flawlessly. Let me know if you have any problems though and I'll be glad to try and help. Justin

Guide to replacing your 2001 Mach 460 head unit

I don't get any interference noise at all in mine. If you get a pop when your amps turn on, you could put a 1K resistor in the amp turn on lead and that should solve your problem. As for the 2000's, I'm not positive, but I believe that they had a slightly different setup. 2001 is the year things...

Guide to replacing your 2001 Mach 460 head unit

There seems to be a lot of confusion about the replacement of a Mach 460 head unit in a 2001 Mustang. I switched mine out with the help of many people in this forum, so I figured I’d compile all of my information together and post it. This may apply to the 02 and 03 setups, but I am not sure if...

03 Cobra head unit replacement (quickie)

Actually, the head unit I bought had the crossovers built in and I just used those. If you don't want to use those, check out these: I'd use bass blockers on your tweeters: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-dxe5sKmHley/cgi-bin/prodgroup.asp?s=0&cc=01&g=761&est=&search=bass+blockers And for...

03 Cobra head unit replacement (quickie)

I have an '01 and all of that information is correct for my setup. As far as I know, the '01-'03 is the same setup. If someone can confirm that, then you're good to go. I've also got all the part numbers and hyperlinks to the parts you need if you want them.
