no, its a very easy install. I went ahead and put mine in Knowing the problems ( no dimming and speed sensing vol) and I'll tell you this. I dont really miss the features that are not working but I will get the fix when it comes out BUT this thing made a HUGE difference between the FM modulation...

Sorry for the 2nd message but its NOT coming from the handle....I thought so too just listening to it....as far as the shift knob ...the steeda one looks great , and you can find it for around 50.00

Call Steeda, tell them your problem and they will send you free of charge a small rubber piece that goes between the actual handle that you bolted on and the handle thats in the base ( between the two bolts) I did have the same prob, called them and got the fix and havent heard a peep since ;-)
