I did the copper tube idea some time back. I used a 45 degree section to eliminate the bend area of the original. Working great for 5000 miles so far.

I did an F150 lately....was able to take the rubber boot out of both ends and push it into the door opening enough to allow room to solder the wires. It is a tight fit but I would try it.

Does the battery hold the charge from being charged? What does a volt meter show when hooked to the battery.....both before turning the key and while the key is turned. You could have a bad battery and just happened to show up when you hit the water.

If you look at the tops advertised on line, most say 94-04 until you look at specific pieces. Headliners might be different plus some of the mechanical parts from what I see.

First thing I always do is disconnect the battery for 30 min or so....then connect it and try starting it. Sometimes, the car just heeds a reset to feel loved.....

Check grounds for each dim light. Check wire and bulb contacts for corrosion. Check to be sure they have matching bulbs on both sides.
