Hey guys. 2004 V6 3.9L Automatic convertible. Having an issue with my automatic trans, It wont shift out of 3rd gear... it just grinds and goes to around 500 rpm (idle) and just makes all sorts of goddamn noise. I checked the fluid, its full, but its brown color and has lots of metal flakes in it. Buddy said my tran is probably toast... other said torque converter? I'm not too good with cars, but im sure you all are! A new trans is super expensive, would be cheaper to swap in a used engine/trans to a 4.6 honestly, but im not sure what path to go about here. I cant sell the car, i have a loan out on it. Advice?
