I recently purchased a 2017 Mustang V6 after trading in my 2011 V6. I'm really happy with it, but I am a bit confused about the fuel economy numbers. As far as I know these are basically the same engines, though the 2017 develops less BHP. The 2017 is also a bit more aerodynamic. While the numbers seem to vary from source to source, the curb weights seem to both be in the same ball park.

So I was pretty confused as to why the 2017 had a worse fuel economy rating as compared to the 2011, but I figured this was just down to changes in EPA standards over the past 6 years.

After driving it around a bit, I can confirm the 2017 does in fact have a bit worse fuel economy than the 2011. Does anyone know why this is the case?

Thanks

Yeah, reset your MPG meter around 3k miles and see the difference. :)

My GT was getting around 21 when I first bought it. I consistently get over 25 now.
