I recently picked up a very clean 65 Coupe with a 289. The previous owner said he wasn't certain but thought it was the original drive train since it only had 42K miles on it. It needed some freshening up so I pulled it to go through it. In the meantime I threw a 302 in it just to keep it drive-able. After pulling the starter and looking at the ID I'm pretty certain this can't be from a 65. Here is a pic if anyone can confirm my suspicions. I believe it is a 67 block. It also has some blue paint under the poor black paint job. I don't think 65s had blue blocks. If its not is there any reason to bother rebuilding it to put back in the car? I now have a decent 302 in it. Any suggestions? I'm just venturing into classic Fords so I could use some help!!
