6g Alternator Help

Hi everyone I'm trying to wire in my alternator and need help so here's the story I decided to go fuel injected with my 65 and bought a 87 crown vic drive train to put in it and this is a 65 mustang 6 cylinder car but now its a 5,0 aod car my problem is the signal wire when I hook it to 12 volt source it makes the engine run rough so I looked at the wiring diagram for the 65 mustang and it looks like if I hook it to the right side small wire on the starter solenoid it will go through the cars signal wire but I'm not sure so has anyone installed a 6g alternator into a 65 mustang and have any tips thanks Al
