So to start this thread off. Less than a year ago this car had a 6.0 LSX with a massive turbo and was notorious on hillbilly videos (or what ever that is) as well as some 1320 videos in street racing action. A friend of mine had it and it was nasty. He parted out the combo and sold the car as a roller to a family friend of his. It was put back together using a 92 lx convertible (5.0 aod car) as a donor.

The car as it sits in my garage now (picked it up last night).

It goes to a paint guy in less than two weeks to have a few minor boo boo's addressed (rear bumper, front bumper, side moldings, and LX front bumper extension need sprayed or fixed).

It's painted 2012 Race Red. Was jammed out correctly and overall is very clean.

It is an udder turd being a 5.0 aod car but has nice black interior with decent black leather front seats. It still has the factor black rear cloth seat so I'll likely pick up a black vinyl seat cover/material to make it match more.

The plan for now is to pay attention to all of the small details (there are 3 interior pieces that are broke that I have red replacements for that need dyed). Locks don't work (do any of them? lol) and pass window motor isn't working properly.

I will keep the drive train stock (but clean it up as it is dirty under the hood). I plan to start collecting parts for a 5 lug/brake swap then coyote swap parts. (I would settle for a termi swap lol).

My goal is to have an excellent cruiser (but slow) and cruise in car for my wife and little girls to share in the fun on while collecting the parts for the big expensive build. Once we do swap in the coyote/mod motor we will take it and have the engine bay filled/smoothed and painted to match the nice outside paint (its red, but not the right color).

Overall I'm excited to be in a CLEAN fox and a coupe at that. I was really wanting a 93 cobra but was not willing to fork over that amount of cash.

I'll get some more pics once I have the minor paint work done and it clean.

For reference as to what I mean of clean, here are some pics of the super clean mach 1 I sold one of my friends in December)

Here are some outside shots. I'm not sure why the img's above didn't all work.

It cleaned up pretty decent. Once the minor paint work is done I'll clay bar and buff the entire car to get the Race Red to shine nicely.

I have located some new center caps (new used) and will refinish the wheels for the time being to keep it respectable. The goal is a 94/95 spindle/5 lug swap w/PBR brakes up front and disc rear 5 lug swap with 18 inch chrome saleens.

Not that anyone really cares but the Interior is coming along nicely. Since this pic I've added new black floor mats from LRS as well as done some more cleaning. I've got the new rear seat material to rid it of the faded/cigaret burned factory cloth. The front seats are survivor leather seats that came out of someones attic. They are in decent shape and are incredibly comfortable.

1F6DDD10-E79F-4DFF-932D-414665216323_zpsnirxjlqn.jpg

I also have a new midpipe (or/h) and flowmaster cat back going on the car.

The big purchase (and I'll get lots of tear down pics) has been 5 lug/4 wheel disc brakes.

PBR front calipers, 94/95 spindles. 94/95 rear calipers, brackets and axles (yes I'm aware it will widen the stance a bit). Parking brake cables, 93 cobra master and booster, FRPP proportioning valve, Factory line adapters for stock proportioning valve (plug too), stainless front lines, new rotors and pads for all corners.

I still have not made up my mind on wheels. I cannot decide between 10th anniversary cobras or a 18 inch chrome saleen.

Are you going to be installing replacement trim for the doors?

That interior looks very clean. Personally, I would go with the Saleen wheels. That's just my personal preference as I've never really cared for the 10th anniversary wheels on foxes.

Very nice car Scott! I am going to attempt a few things I read in there on my own beast . That green though.... Drool!

How much width did you save by not using the backing plates? Also, what about strength and possibly thread pull out etc?

One more question for those who have done this swap before, if I do use the sn95 axles/brackets etc, what wheel size will I be limited too? None of the brake threads I've read mention this or get specific. My fender lips are rolled and the wheel well has been massaged (bfh). The car used to have a 28x10.50 tire although I'm not sure what rear set up it had at that point (previous life/owner).

The plan is to CLEAN everything up. Paint the calipers all red. Brackets/spindles flat black. And not pictured are new stock replacement rotors and ceramic pads. The rotors will be painted silver in the center and edges as not to rust (hate rusty rotors).

I'll get more pics as I make progress. I wire wheeled the pbr calipers a bit and they will clean off nicely.

I also have sitting in a box: 93 cobra master cylinder, booster, frpp prop valve, mm master cylinder line adapters, stainless front brake lines, as well as some other odds and ends to finish up the trim etc on the car.

The backing plate is .100" so that is what I saved per side by grinding the axle tubes flush with the flange. note im using strange C clip eliminator axles so the aluminum flange just bolts to the axle flange now where before the backing plate was sandwiched between.

Your brake parts look very familiar. I am leaving shields off mine. Note you will need to grind the spindles in two spots so the PBR pistons clear. You will note the interference when you try to bolt them on.

I did a bit of work over the weekend.
All brackets/dust shields are cleaned up and painted

The front spindles are cleaned up a bit

I still have to paint the booster and rotors along with the rest of the calipers. I should be ready in a few weeks to start the swap. The car goes off to paint today to fix the bumpers etc.

I also picked up a clean set of starfish wheels and tires. I decided I didn't want to put the refinish work into the split spokes (and they needed two tires).

Here are the starfish wheels that will go on until I can make up my mind on what combo I want to run.

I dropped her off at paint yesterday so I won't be getting much done this next week. I may get the rotors painted and booster taken care of but I'll likely spend my free time helping put back together my buddies hellion terminator. We are swapping it to a much bigger turbo and making it corn fed. (Look up Hellion turbo kit on LRS and the engine bay/product pic is his car. Very nice car)

Well I'm at a standstill again on this. The car is still in paint which has thrown off my timetable for the brake swap. To make matters worse, I tore a tendon in my left ring finger on Wednesday and will likely require surgery to repair. Luckily I've got a good group of buddies willing to lend a hand and put the car together for me (not a lot I can do one handed). Anyway, I hope to have the car out of paint next Mon/Tues and I'll get some pics of it then still on the junk ponys and 4 lug setup.

Overall its been a bad week lol. We have a 4 month old baby girl and it's rather difficult to tend to her with one hand bummed up. But it could always be worse I suppose. (Yay for pity parties).

I'll post more as we make progress on the car in the next few weeks.

Dang, this looks like a good project! Not sure how I missed this one. Will be staying tuned.

+1 on healing up. Always rough when you are wounded and have stuff you wanna do.

Thanks all. I'm praying for the best and a fast recovery.

I'm thinking a simple gt40 head, n41 cam and an eddy or explorer intake combo this winter. I'm also collecting t5 swap parts for later this summer to rid myself of the slushbox.

Some updates and progress.

First off the ortho surgeon said I did not have a torn tendon in the finger and it was simply broke (Never thought I'd be excited to only have a broken finger lol).

So They took me out of the splint and had me start using it again (last Tuesday). Fast forward to this weekend I now have decent mobility in the finger pending I don't try to lift anything to heavy with it or grip something to tight.

Now for the items that you all might actually care about:

Car updates.

I have the 4 lug stuff mostly torn off. I still have to get the rear parking brake cables and brake lines off of the housing. Plus the master cylinder and booster are still in the car (was not wanting to do that all covered in grime).

I will order up 94/95 ball joints and put on new outer tie rod ends just to ensure the car drives out nicely. No need in trusting this stuff with all the other new parts going on (just not a fan of pressing in/out ball joints).

Now to talk about the paint: I got it back friday. Under bright light (like a painter would use) or direct sunlight it matches great. Under anything but bright lights it looks like this
