Hey, I have a 2003 v6 and wanted to put on a cold air intake. The question is, does this take the place of my regular air filter (was thinking about going down and getting a k&n air filter....would it be pointless since i plan on getting a cai)? Would I be able to safely install it myself with the limited automotive knowledge I have?

Because the CAI comes with one, and the one you have now wont fit, if you want to replace the one that comes with ure cai, you need one with a 3.5 inch outlet (if im not mistaken) (aslo, the k&n filter i had in mine before i got my cai, WAY before, had a flat top, and filter sides, whereas my cheap cai filter has a small reverse cone thingy on top and filter sides, this is better for flow and filtration (in my mind)
