My Brand New 2015 Mustang Gt - Transmission And Body Issues

  • Sponsors (?)

Well good deal. As far as worrying about a rebuild as long as they do a good job it should be the same as a new stock trans. Besides, what's you're other option, buy an aftermarket transmission?

Hope Ford will do the right thing and give me a brand new transmission for my brand new $37k+ car, since the damage occurred when it was under the dealership's care. Who knows what other damage was done in the process or how bad the wear is on the rest of the parts. Or even better, if Ford would like to buy my car back that would work ;) (which will never happen).

After it's rebuilt all the "guts" should be new and just the casing will be "old." I know it stinks to have to have your transmisson rebuilt with only a few hundred miles on it or whatever the case might be but I think that's gonna be what you'll end up with. As long as it's fixed right you shouldn't be able to tell the difference between that one and a new one and it ought to last a good long while. If it breaks again before the warranty runs out take er back to them. If it breaks shortly after the warranty is out then that'll suck a fat one.
Other than that Mrs. Kennedy, how was the parade? You liking the new mustang pretty well?

I normally hate how your new car can spy and tattle on you, but if the info is still there, score one for big brother.
Ford should fix this anyway. You may need a second dealership.

I need to clarify what I would do with a second dealership. If you were as mad as I bet you had to be, dealership 1 wants nothing to do with you, (either from embarrassment or fear for their life.) Going to Dealership 2 will provide a chance to show how nice and reasonable you are, and that dealership 2 wants your future business. I would try to be seen as a really nice guy that needs their help to get my baby back together right.

You are probably expecting too much that they will buy your car back. If the tranny broke from a burnout, wouldn't it have done so eventually done so under your feet? You can bet the person who trashed your car is either fired or is on strike 2.5 and on a very short leash.

With a rebuild by a Ford tranny specialist, every part will be inspected, the updated parts will be installed, and it will be more carefully assembled than at the factory. Why do I think this? Because the dealership can stick Ford for the rebuild cost. It is in their interest to do it right and they will be paid to do so. At least that is how the GM dealership I worked for did it. The same mechanic also rebuilt alternators and starters himself so they did not have returns like on parts store volume rebuilt units.

The person still works there. True. This whole experience has been a nightmare for me. I'm not sure how this whole thing will turn out, it doesn't look good so far...

Stick with the dealer you bought from and tell them everything, how you feel etc. Tell them it has been a complete nightmare, you aren't satisfied at all, feel you've been cheated, and you want to return the car and get a full refund. Start there and stick with it.

Or throw a birck through their window... He's probably already informed them about his discontent.

So yeah I'm with this guy. Same thing I was trying to get across earlier in the thread.
Have you tired a 2nd dealership yet? As for hiring a lawyer.. More $ out of your pocket. If you haven't already go to another damn dealer. That'd be you're next step. That or you and a gang of buddies could go up to the place you bought it from and start trashing the joint until you get some service, whichever you think is best.

Thanks, I agree. Yes, this has been a complete nightmare! Dozens of phone calls to Ford/dealerships. Hours upon hours on the phone trying to get this resolved. When all I wanted was a brand new Mustang GT without all of this hassle. I paid $37k out-the-door for the car and from day 1 the car has had problems which were only amplified by the dealership I brought it to for warranty repair. The transmission problem is completely absurd since it started while in the dealership's care and the additional paint damage is ridiculous as well.

Update: 3/8 Ford will still not authorize a brand new transmission, only a rebuild! You've got to be kidding me...

That sucks. You are not alone, I had mine 2 weeks and some 81/yo hit it. Going to the paint shop tomorrow for repairs. Difference is, I know the painter there so it will be done right. Sucks about the transmission. I would talk to your salesman about it. Tell him what happened and bring it up the chain until you are satisfied. The salesman has a vested interest; you bought a car from them once, so if they treat you right and take care of this, you will go back to them in the future, right? I know I would. If that doesn't work, take it up directly with Ford. Tell them what the dealership is doing to you and they will likely have you take it to a different dealership for an evaluation and possibly repairs.

Update 3/13: No resolution has been reached. There is def. a problem with the transmission, which should be fixed! Ford seems to have ended assistance?

Jesus man, take the rebuild. I understand the being angry and feeling jilted but if it's rebuilt right no one would notice the difference from a brand new one. I like to stick it to the man too but sometimes you gotta cut your loses. Would you rather be making payments on a car that's up and running or making payments on one that's sitting in the driveway while you're trying to contact the CIA?

No we haven’t, 15Mustang. Please let them test drive your vehicle and diagnose it. Then we can figure out what the concern you’re experiencing is. Let me know when you decide to bring it back in.

What did the dealership say after driving the car? Has it been to more than one dealership for a second opinion? Did you accompany the tech on the test drive?

Update 3/9: Test drove a brand new 2015 Mustang GT Manual at Autonation Ford Jacksonville where I video-recorded and confirmed that a new Mustang GT manual does NOT exhibit the same shift problem.

Update 3/12: Ford still has not offered a brand new transmission, despite my circumstances. No resolution reached despite dozens of phone calls to Ford and dealerships. Still have serious transmission problems with 4th gear.

Update 3/14: For additional confirmation, took it to an independent transmission repair shop 3/14 with 996 miles on it where the mechanic confirmed a transmission problem exists and the mechanic noted rattle/vibration in the shifter.

Update 3/19: Unable to get transmission fixed (at all, neither rebuild or new) up to this point. Stuck. Not sure what to do next.
