Pulling motor. Which bolts to lift with?

Like the title says..

I have one of the bellhousing bolts in backwards for the rear and one of the alternator mount bolts for the front.. Will these hold? The bellhousing I can see, but the alternator ones are only 10mm bolts..

you use the bolts that hold the carb down on older cars and they are very small also. i think you will be fine with what you have

I used one of the bell housing bolts and i believe it was the alternator as well. Obviously stay away from the head bolts, damn aluminum heads. Make sure you are using at least grade 8 bolts when you are lifting that baby out, don't use grade 5.

Well, I'm using one of the bellhousing bolts and one of the alternator bolts.. Don't know the grade.. I'll have to look..

i used bolts on the heads and it worked great all 3 times.. i'm using a load leveler tho (4 pts.)

thats what I used and it worked fine.

i used bolts on the heads and it worked great all 3 times.. i'm using a load leveler tho (4 pts.)

I used one of the ones on the rear of the driver side head first and broke that one off. I think it was the one that the dpf? sensor bracket bolts onto. ya whoops. welded back on with a stud now.

Now, what does everyone use to support it with while it's on the ground? Don't want that thing falling over..

or go to pep boys and buy an engine stand for $50

Haha, what a coincidence..

On the way home I had an epiphany and thought about using a tire.. So I stopped by a tire shop and they gave me one for free..
